I'm losing water 1/3 from the rear of the engine LHS. Anybody know whats there that can leak? Frost plug perhaps, I can't see where its actually coming from. 1999 130 Td5.
Sorry its the passenger side of the engine.
Check where the bottom of the top radiator hose connects, it may only need the clamp replaced with a screw type hose clamp, those spring ones loose there tension after a while.
Check the whole hose too
Baz.
Cheers Baz.

If it is the LH side towards the rear, it sounds like the oil cooler.
The cooler can corrode the nipple where a short hose joins.
That is what happened on mine. I had had a slight leak the day before but
couldn't find where it was coming from, then next day it dropped all the coolant.
The cooler is not cheapfrom a dealer.
LHS at the rear could be a heater hose / bypass hose. Tucked down behind the turbo.
Thanks all. I'll have a look in behind the turbo in daylight tomorrow and post the result.
Phil 633 wins the prize. Its the short hose into the oil cooler. How did you fix it. It appears to be the hose that is perished.
If it is the hose that's ok, (I think that is the one Big john might be referring to) just get a new one from your favourite supplier.
I use Rovacraft in Bayswater.
I thought it may have been the actual cooler where the hose joins, that was my problem.
The hose from memory has a different diameter each end.
Oh, and I didn't fix it the dealer did, but that is another story
