Anyone know if 200TDI exhaust manifolds fit 300TDI's?

Just seeing if there's an easy way out when changing turbos.......

Given that it appears you don't have EPC or pics of both setups, and that nobody else has spoken up - may I offer my opinion.

Provided you use the 200tdi downpipe to the muffler joint, and modify the oil feed pipe and boost piping etc, maybe the 200tdi exhaust manifold might fit. From the pics in the EPC, the 200Tdi exhaust manifold seems to have the studs in the same places. Going to where you get parts and asking them nice to get out 1 manifold gasket of each type should confirm it.

I imagine that one of the uses of this modification would be that you could then fit an aftermarket / bigger turbo onto your 300tdi.

If you go for a 200Tdi manifold, remember to make it a Disco one and not a Defender one, they are totally different and the Defender one wont fit when a standard 300Tdi inlet manifold is used.

MTQ, who do the TD04 Mitsu upgrade are happy to sell their 300Tdi manifolds, too. These look like a 300tdi manifold with a standard Garrett turbo flange, and being three piece like a 300tdi manifold, less likely to crack in severe use.
IIRC they actually do an exchange as they use genuine 1 and 4 cyl sections, and machine their new cast 2/3 centre to fit.

OK, so the 200 TDI is a one piece manifold which will warp and pull studs out of the head or crack. So that's no good.

The MTQ manifold is $550 and still won't fit my turbo flange. I'm loathe to spend the coin for something that isn't perfect and I will still need to spend good time modifying.

So there goes the easy way and I'm back to seeing if anyone can lend me a head and a exhaust manifold for a while!

Anyone? Promise I'll look after them! In fact I only need the manifold sections for cylinders 1 & 4. You can keep the turbo!

Not sure where you are located but I have a head (cracked and dead) in and out manifold with turbo from a 300tdi sitting in the shed in Cairns. More than welcome to have a play with it... Ill want the turbo and inlet back, you can keep the head!!!!

Might take you up on that, just have to work out shipping to Sydney.

All I need is the head and the zorst manifolds for 1 & 4. You can keep the middle bit with the hair dryer attached and I don't need the inlet at all.

    What's it off? 300TDI Disco?

    yeah '95 300tdi disco...

how do you seperate the exhaust manifold... lotsa heat i imagine it looks pretty well stuck!

For the head, maybe duck down to a local landy mechanic and see if they have a buggered unit... may end up cheaper than cost of freight?

    PM me.

    Hi,
I'm pretty sure the 200tdi exhaust manifold is a 2 piece and it doesn't have bracing webs between the ports like the Td5, so I doubt it will pull stud from the head.
Give Bruce Davis a ring, he was using them on his 300tdi turbo upgrades with a custom cast down pipe.
Or you can make your own manifold, sounds like you want to he he.

Just saw one of these setups today and the 200Tdi manifold is indeed a two piece manifold to resist cracking, and they use the JDM/BD cast dump pipe on the turbo.
Pretty neat how they use the OE hoses with a couple of adapters.
