Diff set up

What do you do when you have 4.11's and your dirty oiler wants 3.54:1 diff ratio's................well, you change them, just done the front before

So, you go out the back and grab a crappy stock rover centre and take a backlash reading before disassembly

Looky, reverse cut 4.11 removed

3.54:1 crown fitted to maxi carrier, note the white paint pen, to assure that everything is torqued

Begin setup, then notice bad clearance to bearing cap

Grinders fix everything

Ahhh, back together to put it in.........the hole

I've just got a stock 10 spline in the rear at the moment, I've gotta be ready to go to Sydney, so will set the rear up next week, I'll think about doing a decent write up on that, as I need to set the pinion height on that one, as when Mal made the early maxi drives, he fly cut one of the carrier bearing bits bores, below thread line, so that particular housing must be retained, its a bit more of an extensive job to set the pinion

4BD1 and LT95, no overdrive makes for crappy road speed with the oiler, loves the 3.54:1 and 35's

its just a paint pen you buy from the local newsagents, the idea being that once you torque the fastener, you put a dab of paint on it so you know its been done

also, you put a mark on the side of the fastener so it extends onto what the fastener sits against, and that will give you a visual indication of wether it has moved in use
