Sagging front springs RRC
I have always been a bit sceptical when people post that they bought springs but they sagged after a while, as every time I have checked mine the free length has been to spec, which is the only real way to check.
However I have been noticing that my 92 RRC seemed down on one (RHF )corner. As I was fitting new Bilsteins after my Flinders/Strezlecki trip, I thought would go the extra mile and check the spring lengths. My RHF was about 20-22 MM shorter than spec while the LHF was OK. It is/was a "blue" LRA spring which should be about 15.5-15.75 inches long. The RH front was down about that much even with the stab bar evening it up. I had anoher set of "blue" springs so I fitted them, only later realising they are stock fronts. Ah well my next trip is a big one with the camper on, and that will raise the front a bit. I am not sure of the wisdom of fitting one new spring, even if the other is still on spec. Regards Philip A |

I have a similar issue with my Disco Tdi, but it is 20mm lower at the left front than the right front. This is with new King springs fitted. The previous springs I had were TJM, and they also left the car leaning that way. I am loath to fit new springs again - perhaps a spacer on that side will do the trick.
I have enquired from 4wddirect - don't do Disco 1, and Extremelimits -their spacer-guy is away at present. Can anyone think who else I could try please? Thanks Adrian |

I ordered 2 new LRA blue springs from Graeme Cooper. When they arrived they were 16.5 inches free length instead of the correct 15.5 inches free length.
Andrew from LRA is discussing with the spring manufacturer what went wrong. Watch this space. I ordered the "blue " springs because I do not want it quite as high as the rear OEM green springs would make it (2" ). These blues are 1/2 inch longer than the greens, so it would be 21/2" and no castor. Regards Philip A |

And the answer is--------drumroll.
LRA's manufacturer incorrectly painted a batch of springs blue instead of green. The ones they sent me are actually green springs which are about 20MM longer than blue should be. So if you have recently purchased a pair of blue springs and think your car sits too high at the front, that is the reason. LRA are sending me a new set of correct ones, so if you have the wrong ones you are faced with once again removing them. Regards Philip A |
