i'm sure somebody will come up with a good idea....i'm thinkng it would not be too hard to make one
Well we've had a minor disaster. As we were leaving Tooma this morning (Heading for Vic high country) I went to change from 2nd to 3rd when there was a bang and the clutch went to the floor. I stopped & had a look underneath; only to find the clutch slave cylinder was hanging from it's hoses under the car! The top bolt hole has had the thread stripped inside, and the bottom bolt has sheared off, leaving the stud in the hole. The clutch was only done just before I purchased the car and I'm guessing that they have both been over-torqued when reinstalling. To make matters worse the rod is missing. We had a bit of a look on the road etc but couldn't see it anywhereLuckily I pulled up on a slight hill, so I removed the cylinder from the hoses and drove into Tumbarumba. The mechanic here can get a new slave cylinder from Melbourne overnight, however they can't find the rod anywhere in Australia. 2 week wait from England!!!
We're going to go back in a minute to look for the rod again. The bloke at the garage here reckons he can pull the bolt stud and re-tap new threads. If so, we can refit the old slave cylinder and get going again. If we can't find the rod then........ Anyone have a spare?
I can be contacted on 0428624363 or 0269484488 if anyone can help

We're just about to head back to Tooma to search for the rod at the spot we broke down. If we can't find it I just sourced one through British 4WD in Melbourne. Can get it overnight for $33. So all is not yet lost![]()
Found the rod and the rubber boot. Took it straight back to the garage only to be told "We might get a chance to look at it tomorrow"I had to prompt them to take down my contact details
So I guess we'll just have to wait and see if we'll ever make it to Vic

Glad to Hear things are working out for you.
Looks to me like the mechanic who did the job originally stripped the top bolt, and the one at the bottom couldn't take the strain.
By the way, I'm the one who phoned you earlier today![]()
It appears that the seals in the slave cylinder were damaged when it was explosively ejected from it's normal positionWe had to order a new seal kit from British 4WD in melbourne.
The rig should be ready to pick up from Tumba this afternoon. If all is well we'll head down to Bright in the morning
Thanks to Disco95 & QLDMike for the swift offers of assistance
