300tdi balancer q

i am currently fitting an endless air setup on my disco and the 2 options i have come up with to drive the compressor is an extra pulley mounted to the harmonic ballancer or one mounted to the p/s pump pulley
i looked at running it from the existing belts but would need to run 2 extra idlers i will be mounting it down low near the sump on exhaust side the pump is mostly a charade air con pump housing with magna air con pump internals
the whole pump is 200mm long and 150mm round and will flow about 170L/min
at 2500 engine rpm
what i need is to either borrow a harmonic ballancer or at least see a photo of 1 for starters before i go ripp ing my radiator out to look at mine
the HB is my first choice but if need be will use the P/S pump

see attached pics,
hopefully enough to get you started.

You can have a loan of this one if you want but Ill want it back... and its in Cairns so may be a bit in freight but the offer is there.

From what I could think up, if you were to use the harm about your only option would be to have a new large ring pulley turned up which sits into the rebate Ive measured and is welded in place on the internal face.

Hope it helps

Steve

Just realised you cant see the file names easily.
First image : engine side of harm balance
Second image: fan side with crank washer measurements
Third image: width view, engine side to right

the 4 small holes through the front of the balancer would probably work well enough to drive it
all depends on what pulley i can find
thanks heaps for the detailed photos helps a lot
the only thing that is worrying me about using the HB is that i will only be able to run a short belt

Here's an idea: Recently there was a thread about an alleged shonky replacement of AC belt (4pk1320) with a shorter 4pk belt around the fan pulley instead of the crank pulley. My response to that was the opinion that it placed too much strain on the fan bearing, which is a problem to replace. However, if you could live without A/C temporarily, you could have your endless air hooked up to the 4rib pulley on the crank, and after you finish your off road adventures, you could hook the AC belt back up in about 5mins. I suppose one of these days somebody will have the AC running off a short belt around the fan pulley - much like a 70's car - but it would be a gamble as to whether or not the fan bearing could take the strain. Of course, if you can live without AC permanently, our British cousins like to mount endless air type stuff where the AC usually sits.

Don't forget Cooter, on a 300Tdi the PS pump rotates in reverse....This means you have to use a A/C compressor from a Honda Accord or similar, as they have an anticlockwise rotating engine....

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works there...
