Hi C,

Yes, the taller to the right.

It is more to offset the driver also, and the battery. the TC, etc etc etc.

Yep, the longer spring goes on the drivers side. I guess the manufacturer think we are all fat buggers that drive alone all the time...hang on...hmmm maybe they have something there.

We replaced the springs on the rear of our d1 and the taller one went on the right hand side due to the weight of the driver.

Originals were 14mm The current King springs 16mm and wanting to put Defender ones in are 16mm(not new) also and same height do you think the defender ones will make a difference?????

Me thinks she'll sit a bit higher and be bit stiffer. Sounds like they are heavier duty coils than the existing ones.

H & C,

The number of coils, their thickness and the spring free length are all important. If the defender ones are the same free length, the same diameter and have the same number of coils, then apart from the fact that they MAY be of a better tensile strength, I wouldn't bother replacing them.

(Mostly due to the fact that replacing front springs is more of a pain than rears..)

New words?? Do you mean ones that Incs' language filter may be alerted to???
With D1's equipped with swaybars, I disconnect the front one, and drop the brake lines down through their brackets to allow more droop to get the spring out without removing the turret and shock. (Works best with oil shocks not gas, as you can compress the oil ones up out of the way further to remove the spring...)
