Cool Our V8 Series 1 Disco Drinks Petrol

Hi there all, well we were on our trip across the top end, towing a 17ft Jayco caravan. Fuel consumption was not good to say the least the Disco averaged 25 litres per 100ks on a good day. The most we paid for fuel was at Borroloola $2.00 a litre. Was a great trip though and wouldn't swap the disco for all the tea in china, fortunatly we also have LPG and could get it most places. We got as far as Darwin and unfortunatly my husbands father was diagnosed with aggressive liver cancer, so we cut short our holiday and headed straight for Adelaide.

Takecare All.

Sorry to hear about your father in law.Don't get to hung up on your fuel, the new cruiser TD's are using the same amount to the LR V8's.That is all the grey nomads talk about these days. Pat

I would say 25/100 on gas towing a 17ft van is actually very good.

Hi Andrea hope your father in law makes it ok.

this might sound a bit silly but if you have travelled the top end within the last month we have some pretty strong trade winds that blow for several months around now so if you were punching into them then they will knock your fuel consumption to hell and back.

There is nothing wrong with that when using a V8 to tow a van.

I have a 4.6 V8 auto in my Disco II (rebuilt engine) and on LPG, it consumes 25 litres per 100 kms just tootling around town, no caravan.

So you're doing quite good with the caravan, despite what you may think.
