Best laid plans :-( Transmission cooler fittings

This weekend has become a disaster, perhaps I should have gone to WYD and prayed for forgiveness!

Yesterday after losing my morning flat white to a mates dog who was too excited that I came around, then I had transmission fluid dripping all over the back of the front bumper. An investigation reveals that the core of the OEM cooler ex-1989 RRc has developed a crack. Quick trip out to see Brian at LVS to acquire a replacement (after closing time) very fussy to get exactly the correct one so it will be a quick swap in the morning and my weekend on the farm will proceed as planned bar Saturday morning.

This morning got up, de-greased and washed off the offending area. As I attempted to remove the fittings from the old cooler, not a hope in Hades, none of the spanners I had would undo it. Trip down to Repco (where's my Snap-On man when one wants him) buy Sidchrome 14mm flare nut spanner, much effort, grazed knuckles and cursing later my new spanner is now in 2 pieces and one of the fittings is still not undone. CSI Arncliffe's forensic examination reveals that the #@%&* who converted my 1985 from 727 Torqueflite to ZF used imperial thread tube nuts into the metric thread cooler .

Where is my Pirtek or Enzed man when one needs one! AArrrggggghhhhh!

Why isn't anyone useful open on a Saturday arvo?????

My weekend has come to nought.

Rant over
Diana
