    200Di conversion to a former rover 6?

Ok, if I can't fix the sic holden converstion in my S3, is it possible to convert it to a 200TDi (minus the T), or is that reserved for the 4cyl.

you can, you may need to swap out the gearbox for a 4 pot box or redrill the flywheel adaptor plate then as its from a 6 to a 4 you will need to shift the mounts or fab up new ones.

I have no doubt that you will also need to do some work radiator wise but you were up for that no matter as the rover 6 doesnt exactly match up to any other engine I know of when it comes to hosing.. (there probabley is but I havent done it yet)

thanks crew, but it seems most of those topcis are starting with a 4cl pet/deisel engine. My vehicle started with a 6cyl rover and now has a holden 186. I'm diesel all the way, so a 200Di would be nice, but it seems liek a bigger fish to fry..

someone must have ripped and slipped a 200 into a six...

Swap the box. The 200 is a great option if you can get one. If a Fender 200 Turbo will fit well but disco not so easy. As you say drop turbo. Some say they kill series boxes but should be ok if you don't give it a hard time in 1st or 3rd gear.

Swapping the 200 and a matched box out of a defender would be the easiest way to go. However the late series 3 boxes with the lattice work down the RH side of the casing are the strongest of the series boxes.

One thing you may wish to consider is the age of the 200Tdi and the fact that some parts, like replacement heads* are made of unobtanium, so be careful with any 200 engine you may want to purchase. A 300 Tdi may be a better option.

    * the LR 200 Tdi heads can't be machined like heads off other models and makes.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Some wont agree on this... use a late S111 4cyl box as Diana said. They are cheap and easy to repair.(When you get one just go through it and fix up tired parts syncro's etc and reset end floats. As I said before Don't give 1st or
3rd a hard time the series box can take a fair bit of pain.
