Stiff Hinges - Defender

Gday

The hinges on my Defender are quite stiff more so on the drivers side. I've been thinking of ways to fix the problem one was to drop the pin out of the hinge and give each face of the hinge a light filing? But then i tried getting the pin out

So I then purchased a tin of RP7 (similar to CRC) and used about half a can swinging the door open an shut. This loosened them a bit but they are still very stiff.

When i say stiff I mean when parked on the side of a steep hill the door has to be pushed open and then it will stay they. Then needs to be pulled shut rather than just swinging shut. This isnt a bad thing in some cases but does get annoying.

Any advice or ideas?

Thanks

P.S Sorry if any of my grammar is not correct I worked 11 hours in the bush today with my brother and Im not used to it so Im buggered

stiff hinges

Try loosening the bolt and realigning the door.
loosen the bolts a little one hinge at a time and open the door and see if it gets better of worse they have moved over time.

Were they always that stiff?, if not, whats changed?, and the hinges alined correctly?, any panel damage?.........or try lifting the door when it's open, any play or movement?. Has the vehicle been sitting for a while, could be corrosion in the hinge(s)?. You should be able to move the pins with a small punch & hammer, but lube well first.
I have the opposite problem, everythings getting to loose with age......(reference the LandRover)

We bought it with 260 k on it so not sure if they've always been stiff but ever since we had it they have been stiff. No panel damage on either door but there is about 0.5 mm slop up and down in the hinges ? Knowing Landrover it probably came out of the factory like that

Think Ill try the realining idea. Otherwise Ill try the pins again.

When I was spraying them with RP7 I placed the tip of the nozzle right against the gap and the residue that ran down the door was very rusty so there may be corrosion as well
