laonolin will be fine, use the heavy duty stuff as it will hang in there longer
Well I've been putting off striping my winch, (Warn 9.5xp), down and checking/regreasing everything, but finally got round to it today. I was feeling guilty after the abuse it got pulling a front wheel drive RRC up a hill the other weekend.
(Thanks nice1guv for the pic)
The gearbox looks fine, very little wear, no water ingress, and heaps of grease.
However the motor isn't looking as good, its had a bit of moisture in it and a fair bit of sand/grit. There is a bit of sufrace corrosion in the stator casing:
I plan to give it a light coating of lanolin spray, its non conductive and non flamable so should be fine? I am just wondering if anyone has any better solutions?
Thanks in advance,
Tim

Thanks Sprint, it's the HD stuff I have. The only other thing I've found wrong is the bearing in the end of the motor casing, its very rough! It's a SKF 6202Z, I'll have to get a new one on monday.
The rest of the parts should be finished getting their final clean in the dishwasher shortly.
Cheers,
Tim
