    Question Opinions - Best 3.9 V8 Cams

Need to do a new cam, chain & lifters on the Classic.

Anyone have anything they recommend? Not going wild as a daily driver, but just want something with a little more torque.

    Just need some feed back.

    Cheers

    Andrew

Imported: Crower 50229 or Real Steel Viper Cyclone or RPI Torquemax. The Cyclone was developed specially for 14 CUX hot wire 3.9 engines with auto trans.

Local: Dynotec PC216 or Wade 259A.

    Hi Andrew,
The RPI Piper cam kits are good. i fitted a 270 kit a few years ago in the UK- you get new lifters, lube, vernier duplex chainset and gaskets, which when you add up all the bits seperately is a good deal price wise.
They do a Torque Master cam grind and a new one called RP4 Optimax at the same price both which suit the hotwire 3.9
    cheers

Will do. Have been looking at all the different options.
Will start putting it down on paper as I want to get this done in the next few weeks.

I dont want to have to go to the extent of dragging it in from O/S so am looking for cams available in Oz.

Have thought about the Piper cam as I may chip it later with a Tornado, but have projects like oxy sensors to go on as well which I want to do first, give me a gradual feel of the performance lift step by step.

    Cheers

(Tongue in cheek) Winfield No.4 and No.5 grinds worked in Offys. No.5 gave more top end, 6500rpm upwards. No.4 gave a better slingshot out of the corners.

    I got the fuller piper cam kit with the RP4 tourqmax cam as shown below ;

Ordered it straight from RPi with a fair discount and the dollar was ok so in the end it cost me peanuts, IMHO.

Unfortunately I can't comment on the complete setup yet as I am not looking to fit it until I get some new heads aswell.

But as a complete package and ease of attainment I was really impressed.

    Cheers
    Anthony

p.s. If you do end up slecting a product from RPi we may be able to combine shipping as I am after S3 heads and a tornado chip (or two).
    I rule!!!

    2.4" of Pure FURY!!!
