    help!! Air conditioner pipe for Defender??

    Hi all,

    Can anyone offer a suggestion please? The aluminium discharge pipe from the top of the condensor on my 99 Defender 300TDi has sprung a little leak. Can anyone help please with suggestions as to where I might be able to get one?

    Seems they are officially No Longer Available.

    Cheers everyone,

    Paul

    A decent A/C place will be able to repair it or make a new pipe up. You might have to travel though or try your luck with a Landy wrecker.

    Where's the leak ?

    If it isn't a crack on an O ring flange, just a rub through or small crack it can be TIGed, oxy welded, brazed or even epoxied.

    I've actually epoxied a liquid line (same pressure as the discharge line) on a Mitsubishi Truck on an aluminium bulkhead fitting and it's been fine for quite a few years now.
    <edit> forgot to ad that I used a specific, refrigerant rated epoxy.

    A new line can also be formed up, Pirtek or Enzed should be able to make one up easily in aluminium.
    Don't be tempted or talked into making anything out of copper, it work and age hardens terribly and will break eventually.

    Thanks all for the suggestions. I hadn't considered epoxy - if it is not at the flange, that could be the answer. Thanks also for the warning about copper, that was what I had in mind if all else failed.

    There are no Enzed or Pirtek sort of places down here on the South Coast, but I was told last night that there is a skilled Tig welder.

    Cheers,

    Paul

    Hi Wilbur,

    I just replaced the high pressure aircon pipe on my 93 tdi thru Landy spares. I went out there on Saturday and after about 3o minutes and trying a few different pipes they found an exact match. didnt cost much either. They would need the exact dimensions though, as apparently there were a lot of different air con suppliers to landrover, even on same models.

    here is their details;
