Hi Pat
Is this a 300TDI measuring at the EGR blanking plate ?
Possible causes:
* Do you have the right thermocouple for the gauge (J/K type etc) ?
* Is the thermocouple probe long enough to poke into the gas flow or is it too short and sits in the shielded EGR void ?
* Assume the injector pump is stock standard and has not been tweaked ?
* When you put the ignition on first thing in the morning (prior to starting), does the EGT temperature equal the ambient temp at the time ?
My pump is tweaked and I can get to 700 deg if I try on a hill and towing. My EGT alarm sounds at 650 and I back off then if I haven't already.
