    Complete Diff Locker options thread

I have found out about two new diff lock options for LR's just this week from this site! I think it would be very handy for everyone to list every available diff lock option available from all around the world so people in the market for them can get a good overview of their options.

I will start with what I know, feel free to ammend any incorrect info.

    1. ARB - Air locker, manual operated available for front and rear, approx $1700 ea + compressor.

    2. True tracks - Geared LSD full automatic in diff type, available for front and rear approx $1200 ea.

    3. Lokka - available for some disco rear diffs only but company suggests a 2wd conversion first (and sell kits), full auto mechanical, approx $500 ea.

It might be better to group them by category:

    For rover diffs:

    Manual Locker:
    McNamara
ARB (I thought they were closer to $1300???)
    KAM
    Maxi-Drive (only second hand now)

    Auto Locker:
    Detroit
    Lock-rite
Aussie Locker??? (only avail in US?)
    Lokka?

    Geared LSD:
    True-Track
    Quaife

I am sure I have missed a bunch...

For a Salisbury you have most of the above and also 30, 35 and 40 spline ARBs, as well as eaton e-lockers

If you do the toyota centre conversion you can also use factory toyota e-lockers (and maybe eaton???)

Good idea. Maybe this could be a sticky in the Technical area?

From my understanding the ARB air locker starts at around the $1200 mark + compressor (of course price changes with model)

    There are also:

    TJM Pro-Locker

Jack Mcnamara Air Operated Locker or JMac - these are what the TJM is based on.

    KAM DIFFLOCK

Maxi-Drive Diff Locks - sadly no longer available

The TJM prolocker are the same as the McNamara locker. TJM bought the rights to the lockers from Jacmac - but only for toyotas and nissans AFAIK, and have had them mass produced.

IMO the McNamara locker is the best design on the market.

Hi Shiftit. As well as the others mentioned, Ashcroft now offer an air locker for Land Rover products, but not for Salisbury diffs as far as I know. Modern Motors in Dungog ,NSW, will supply and install the Ashcroft product and I imagine they would not be the only ones to do so. Cheers, 130man.

Since this thread started a lot of cheap chinese copies of the ARB locker have come around, many people will not want them but I have heard some people having a good run from them in competition cars. Ebay have lots of these models for about $500.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Hard to go pass a detroit locker in the rear of a constant 4wd system.
I have fitted a few now and every time comfirms there is so much BS about these units.
    Quick and easy to fit.
No compressor or any other items needed.
    normal oils used.
    100% locking.
Works very well and you wouldnt know it there except for the traction.

The groupings may best be divided into lockers for the 3 common diff varieties in LR ie Rover, P38 and salisbury. The problem is that some manufacturers don't make lockers for different diff varieties.

I may be repeating contributions already made:

Salisbury - ARB, Maxi-drive, Detroit locker
P38 - no idea - assume ARB and Ashcroft
Rover - ARB, Ashcroft locker, Ashcroft ATB, Maxi-drive (new?), Eaton Elocker, Detroit Tru-Trac, KAM, TJM Pro-locker (JMac/McNamara), Quaife

The Eaton Elocker is $1950 fitted ($1600 for locker). The maxi for the salisbury with axles is $1700 for the kit, add about $1000 for fitting. Ashcroft is sold by Les Richmond among others or about $800 landed from the UK. The Ashcroft ATB with new journal bearings from LR is about $700, fitting about $400.
