FIRST MAJOR ISSUE.
I have a spare set of 6 D2 alloys,so I wanted to utilise them and match the track of the D2.
Martins Trailer parts are supplying all the suspension/hubs/brakes.They could only supply 9/16th studs which dont match the D2 wheelnuts.I had to find my own, genuine are around $12 ea.Tojo 100series are 14mm,genuine are around $8ea,Don Kayatt Spares do them for $3ea.
Next problem, their hubs are too big for the alloy hub, machining is needed.
I couldnt get anybody locally that can hold a 16" wheel in a lathe,15 1/2" yes.
The trailer shop, the local engineer shop and the local boilermaker all agreed,it is possible to use a die grinder,if care is taken.
Having a spare blank hub from the trailer shop I chose to die-grind.$85 for a non-ferrous burr!!!!
Ive done 1 wheel sofar, turned out pretty good.
D2 Steel wheel with blank hub
D2 Alloy with blank hub
20 mins with the die-grinder 1 wheel done
The die-grinder and bit
