Just a thought
I remember back in the early days of AULRO (when men were made of steel and ships were wood), only pics were posted up of outings.
All the video action was compiled onto DVD and copies made, then distributed to the other participants of the day. It worries me to some degree that videos are posted of vehicles blatantly abusing the bush enviroment with wheel spinning, excessive engine noise, driving through areas that are causing additional erosion etc and some with jeering and cheering. Parks Victoria and DSE both have a 4WD code of ethics Parks Victoria: Four Wheel Driving page http://www.dse.vic.gov.au/CA256F3100...uring+Code.pdf I feel the posting of the videos could be detremental to the AULRO reputation, as I know of two P/V Rangers who visit the AULRO site. I have no problems with pics, it is just the videos that are incriminating and wouldn't want a bush-hoon reputation evolving.

Sorry Slunnie, I have nothing against videos, it's just the incriminating ones...

Besides Vespa's are still in production so obviously someone buys them. PS I agree with keeping the vids |

I think there is a good point, in that we wouldn't want any incriminating stuff posted on here, heaven forbid that the site get closed down because of the actions of a minority.
By all means keep the videos, but be careful what you post, and don't do stupid stuff out in the bush to give all 4WDer's a bad name in the first place. |

I support this.
Many will object loudly - but that's their right. A lot of 4WD Clubs are now excluding those sort of photos from their publicity. They were turning up on greeny websites as evidence of the "irresponsibility" of 4WDers. I, like most of us, like watching videos showing off a vehicle's capability, but I now cringe when I see vids of it done deliberately in parks and forests. In a lot of videos you can clearly see an alternate track. I want the tracks to stay open, so I can access the bush for touring and camping. Bad publicity will just result in more being closed. Does this site want to be part of that ? I'd support a "no hooning videos" policy on this site, then it becomes the Mods job to monitor it. Last edited by waynep : 12th April 2008 at 06:17 PM. |

I have to agree, over here finding good 4wd tracks is impossible, most if not all the tracks in the Brisbane ranges & you yangs are closed to all but walkers, now as I'm far to lazy for that and live by my moto that if i can't drive to the top of the mountain then the view probably isn't worth seeing anyway. my Passion is 4wd not bush walking, and it saddens me to see that Australia is changing from "lets look out for our mates" to "whats in it for me gimme gimme gimme", yahoos wreck it for every one, OK thats my little rant ![]() |
