Have a GREAT trip!!!

We have done this route many, many times over the past years and absolutely LOVE it. A few friendly suggestions:

A good van park just past the Nth. Bourke bridge is the Kidman Tourist Park.

The best Lamb Pies are at the Bourke Pie Shop. ...You'll find it!

Take great care driving at dusk and early mornings in western Qld. between Cunnamulla and Longreach The 'roo factor' is frightening - you will see the evidence on the roadside. One hit in the wrong place can really stuff your holiday!

The drive west from Mt. Isa to Cammoweal isn't much fun in the late afternoon sun.

Fill your fuel up at Mt. Isa, as fuel after here up till, and incuding, Mataranka is hellisly expensive. (More expensive than Gove) Barkly is the dearest, followed closely by Three Ways.

Don't rely on getting any fuel between Katherine and Gove - Mainoru is closed one or two days a week and Bullman was out of fuel when we went through a few weeks ago.

Banka Banka is a nice overnight camp if you're there at the right time. No meals, but excellent amenities...and very friendly.

The Old Daly Waters Pub is OK with a camp ground alongside. Many Tourists.
But interesting!!

Have beer at the Gove Yacht Club for the view. It's awesome. But take the advice of the locals for the best place to eat when you're there.

Do go to the Arts & Crafts Centre at Yirrkala.... and enjoy your time with DM-TD5 and Stuuu

Enjoy the company and enjoy the culture and THEN try and settle back to life in Sydney!!!

Safe travelling!
