Sort out the 2/4wd issue as soon as you can. Flandies are quite capable off-road and I am sure you'll be happy with it.

Definitely I'm so happy with ma Flandie, altough it's 11 years old like yours, I do love it. I'm planning fix it, and with the Mokery help (Mike) we found the part ... Peter I will would be happy if you can help me, I'll let you know.

As you said Garry, AULRO is "plenty of people on this forum who are more than happy to help and provide advice". I'm really grateful, you's have been so friendly at me and I hope still counting with your help.

Hehehehe!!! Andy!!! ... I'm still walking 'coz I live near to my job , I only use it to go to the college.

Thanks again, and hope see you on Sat or asap.

Cheers!!!

Camillo.

Hey folks,

I've been helping Camilo to suss out the parts needed to get Lullu back on all fours, reckon we are probably set...
The thought occurred though, is there a way to know whether or not the IRD is knackered, short of opening it right up?
I would feel really ***** if Camilo got this part and then more was needed.

--edit: found this old post Freelander Drive Problems which helps quite a bit. think we better check it out before proceeding...

Check to see if there is any crap in the IRD oil. Also I believe (but not totally sure) that the the housing on the IRD that holds the rear drive pinion can unbolt without removing the IRD so you can check the condition of the pinion gear and the rear drive crown wheel. Dunno about the bearings.

Other than that - I think instal the the VC etc and try it - if the IRD is faulty there will be a loud knocking and violent vibration like an inner CV joint has gone. Often you need the load of the rear drive to show up the problem. When mine failed the car would move but was not drivable with all the banging and crashing - but when I took the rear drive line out and changed the IRD oil I was able to drive in 2wd without any issues even though the faulty rear drive crown wheel and pinion was still there and turning but with no load.

I suspect that your IRD is all OK (if it were mine I would not have risked driving it for a long period with a dodgy IRD).

Put the rear gear in and go for it - I am sure all will be OK - BUT - always be prepared for the unexpected.

Good luck

Garry

Thank you so much Adam!!

Well, today Mike and me were looking at the Lullu's down part again, trying to see if she needs something else or only her CVU.

Everything look alright ... her IRD looks good (we don't know, but the part is there) and her rear diff as well ...

So, hope this week to buy the part and then fit it. 'Till now I've had the WAULROrians' support, and I'm very grateful ... really.

Cheers to all!!!

Good to hear camillo, be good to be on all fours again. That certainly looked like a M.A.D T-shirt that Mike was wearing under your car, must be another Perth Street Bikes member!! Hopefully have the green rangie goiong soon, so I can go on some trips.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Second that!

Do something before the cooling off or warranty period expires.
The car in this condition is actually unroadworthy as it came off the line with 4WD and now only has 2WD. You can force them to give you another car or take it to court and sue them for breach of Trade Practices.
