Andrew
Well, finally I have Internet connection so I'm here telling you about 'Lullu' (hehehe! I was looking for a female dog name).

It's a Freelander 1, 1998, three dors, 1.8L petrol, soft top; but as I said I don't like her color ... nothing special ...

No more words, the pix!!

with Lorraine ...

But she has a problem ... it's 4x2, I didn't know that some Land Rover (or Flanders) come with that characteristic, and I say that for these stranges covers, look!
This's at the output of the gearbox:

This's at the rear diff:

She's her rear dif ...

'Lullu' at home ...

Mike and Peter (Ferret) have had the chance to give a look at her "down part" ... she needs her CVU ... (and I'm agree , we'll see)

Well, I'm waiting for your comments. Anyway I'll be at the BBQ next weekend.

Cheers!!!

Very clean set of wheels there! Looks well nice!

Did some Flanders actually come from the dealers as 4x2?

Hey Camillo, looks to me like you may like it here!

Damn thing looks slightly more comfortable than my Series! You know you will have to get a series some day here. Join the real Land Rover club...

Nice way to start the New Year! Enjoy!

Oh and don't worry about the 2wd. My partners Ford Laser is much lower and has been everywhere! Even across from Alice to Halls Creek via the Tanami track! And thats 2wd.

Cheers

Never heard of a 2WD Freelander.

Was that delivered by LandRover in Australia?

It looks like someone has gone to quite a bit of trouble to make those guards, but notice the black paint overspray on the underside of the car floor in the picture of the rear diff one... I'd say they were quite recently put on. Also the front one is too close to the exhaust to be factory. It's a cover up alright.

The Freelander is a 4WD car and was never sold as a 2WD. In any case, why would they put a rear axle on complete with diff, if it was factory 2WD?

I've been looking on the net, and apparently It's a common bodge in the trade to remove the rear prop when the Viscous Coupling Unit fails, usually the IRD (transfer box) is damaged as well if the VCD had seized.

Although not impossible to sort out, this is going to be expensive for you I'm afraid to say. Second hand VCD's are in short supply because they do fail regularly. You may also have to get the transfer box fixed, plus you need a prop.

Where did you buy the car from Camillo? If you bought it from a dealer then I'd say you definitely have some come-back. Even if it was a private sale, you may have some come-back if the advert or seller mentioned the car was 4WD.

I'm really sorry this has happened to you Camillo, Does anyone out there have a Freelander they're breaking at the mo who can help out?

Jon

... that's why I said "I didn't know that some Land Rover (or Flanders) come with that characteristic", 'coz those plastic covers make me think that; obviously I don't know anything about Flanders; in Colombia they aren't common one's (and not too many people like them, my friends in Colombia call them -mine incluided- "gaylander" although I prefer to think she's a little girl, 'coz she's in the family) ... I'm just assuming that ...

Yeah! she's more comfortable , but that isn't important to me ... this is ma real Land Rover ...

Dailymotion - GuascaI (2), a video from k1000o. Land, Rover, Serie, IIA, River
[dailynotion]x1uc5w_guascai-2_auto[/dailymotion]

I know what a Land Rover Series is ... 'Diogenes' it's ma Series IIA Santana petrol ...

Some of my friends, left hand side Javier (Discovery S1) and the another Camillo (Series III) ...

Hmm!! these pix make me remember this ...

(I'm not a hen at off road (especially in my Series)).
But incredibly, 'Diogenes' started that same nite! Of course after that I switched it off, and at next day we drained all the bad oil, water, clean the air filter which is a wet one; the electric system worked and works perfectly, and he returned me and my exgirlfriend 350km back to Bogota ... I LOVE MY 'DIOGENES'!!!

Oh! I'm so sorry, I felt so emotional remembering my 'Diogenes' ... sorry ...

Nathanial, don't be bad at me ... ... I bought a Land Rover no a Ford Laser ...

Unfortunately I bought it to a private, and the ad didn't mention anything about 4WD. Peter (Ferret) tried to help me in December, but it wasn't possible ...
