I too could pick you up at Currambine about 8:10 (or like HangOver, you could park at mine, Carramar). Picking up other fella at 8:30 but he's on the way to Bullsbrook (sort of), so still gives me plenty of time..... Just need to make sure I find a servo in Bullsbrook before we head off. CAR 54 WHERE ARE YOU??
.
. . .. . . . . . Clicky this then play it ... minimise it .. Then read the rest Well ... all tho I had not said I was going ... I packed up the Esky & went to meet you lot at 9.30am at Pickering park ... BUT I was running 10 minutes late .... ![]() Saw a Green Defender with 2 folks waving at me as it past on the way there Was that you Taff?? A belated wave for you ... didn't wave back cause it was too late by the time i figured out the "who & what" on what was going on ... I was busy on the UHF saying ... Is Hangover on line?? ... no answer ![]() Got to Pickering park & you folks were gone ![]() No dramas I thought .... I'll fuel up & go up Neaves road and go on a Hunt for you's ![]() So I went down Neaves road and entered in on the power lines track Use the UHF ... Is Hangover on line?? ... no answer ![]() Go up Powerlines & found a massive hill to the Right ... It has a full 360 degree 20k horizon view .... Use the UHF ... Is Hangover on line?? .... WELL, what a response I got ... All the folks from UHF ch3 were on it ... And in there usual abusive lingo, it took a while to figurer out that .... NOPE, your not in this zone either ![]() Mmmmm ... Must push North ... So the hunt continues ... Pushed North ... Found a track North West ... Went to get to the top of RAAF Boundary road to see if you were in that Zone ... By the way .. RAAF Boundary road is not a road ... It's a dirty great big sand fire break with sections that are fairly boggy & can challenge most cars when climbing it's hills ![]() Use the UHF ... Is Hangover on line?? ... no answer ![]() RAAF Boundary road falls onto a bitumen road ... Head West on it for 1 km ... Turned Right (North) onto a Limestone track that falls straight onto a pine forrest .... Use the UHF ... Is Hangover on line?? ... no answer ![]() Push North East ... back on the tracks ... to get to the bush again, past the pine forrest Use the UHF ... Is Hangover on line?? ... no answer ![]() Many tracks later .... I Eventually fell onto Casuarina Rd .. Another disused track overgrown with bush and tree blocked it's path // Pushed around it // and finally found Tuart Road Use the UHF ... Is Hangover on line?? ... no answer ![]() Well I had run out of time as it was 2pm ... and I was only half way to Moore river ... So took Tuart rd (Not a road but a fire break) back to Brand Highway / Filled up at Muchea / Went home at 4pm Now, Tuart road is a Brilliant short cut if you want to go from 2 rocks to Muchea (Brand Hwy) ... Starts off as a Limestone road, at halfway turns into 4x4 sand trackAll in all ... I had a good drive, with my daughter driving 50% of the tracks .... But the question remains CAR 54 WHERE AaaaaaaaaaaaaaRE YOU?? ![]() Mike ![]() [IMG] [/IMG] |

Hi mike
shame we missed you im sure it was about 9:30 we left? we did however have a last minuite change didnt go via neaves rd. we went a bit further north to avoid the restricted land. We all had UHF i dont know how we missed hearing you. All up it was a nice easy day nothing too troublesome, unless you coun't the 4tf dune i couldn't get up, something about being crossaxled or something? Oh and the kangaroo that decided to pop out and kiss my RR door.I hope someone else can say exactly where we went because im still confused. The bad news for the day was one staked tyre and one damaged sidewall. With a bit of luck this post should have about 60secs of video of almost impossible dune climbs. I didnt take much video at all. Good day out though and saw some good camping spots. |

... I was running late and I would say that you where on the edge of my UHF Aerial range, as we heard static voice chatterHad a Idea you were up further ... That Big lookout hill I climbed gave it away, when I couldn't hear any UHF chatter ... I figured you took Airfield rd / Duffy rd / Tuart rd There are plenty of roos in that bush ... Bit of a surprise .... eh ... We saw "mobs" of themThey way I went would have taken about 10 hours to get to Moore River ... But you end up going around the "Restricted zone" confused about where you were ... Wanna try a night run ![]() Where was that dune??? ... Looked like a beauty to give a go again ![]() Mike ![]() |

Just checked on Google Maps and that dune the video footage was taken was at LAT -31.462186 LON 115.567960 going by Google Map co-ords. Didn't get up as far as Moore River. The following is based on looking at the Maps and Tracks book this morning, trying to remember(!): Went north up Brand Highway from Muchea, turned onto would could have been Timaru Rd, headed west cross country (may even have been on Tuart Rd for a part of the way, who knows!) ending up where Wanneroo Rd crosses either Hombracht Rd/ Wabling Rd/Coppino Rd. Then headed up Wanneroo Rd a short way to the Wilbinga Grove entrance/car park and ventured in to the tracks and dunes up there, generally heading south down to Two Rocks. I have to admit I did hear some very garbled stuff on the UHF just after we'd turned of Brand Highway, but couldn't make any sense of it, so thought I was just catching some tail end out of range stuff. Was it you who said "is this those clowns from Ch.3...?". It was very very broken up and heard no sign of AULRO or any of our usernames so ignored it. Apologies if it was you... ![]() Some pics me and my co-pilot took are on Picasaweb....enjoy. Great trip by HangOver, even though it started off in a bit of a confused wandering around Muchea! Good to see Mockery again too, take it you got back down South with no dramas? Anyone know of well priced tyre place NOR? Need some replacements pretty pronto and at a good price.... Fancy leaving rocks like that out on the tracks, eh!Cheers, ..:: KIEREN ::.. 2000 Disco II Auto V8 Object Of Mass Consumption |

That would be me ... ... Not the brightest bunch on air ... they hog the repeater station and just swear & Jamb each other all day long ... And they are the "club members of ch3" You heard that when I was on top of the lookout hill ![]() Quote:
Had a look at the tyres in your photo ... My bro has a D2 & canes his Hankook tyres in the sand / gravel and cap rock I use A/T RoadStone ... Both can be bought as 285 wide ... Perfect for sand ![]() Mike ![]() |
