Two Rocks conquered!

I remember seeing this impossible hill on a previous post, so inevitably Hibees (Mike) and i went for a blast up two rocks way last Sunday, and lined it up as a must do. I should start by saying it is fecking steep, despite the short run, and has a tricky run up.

There were several Pootrols hanging around including a new ST with a significant suspension and wheel upgrade, an older GQ with serious work, an 80 series with extras underneath, and a couple of 76 series cruiser traybacks. All owned by young guys, on their second beer, (it only takes 5 mins to get from entry to here, so they werent mucking around).

Anyhoo i was contemplating the monster, after Mike had already ripped up it in his stock V8 D1, when the tojo/trollers group turned up. I figured my td5 was not going to getthe momentum up that mike would get with the v8, so I concentrated on getting tyres to around 10psi for the soft stuff.

The two patrols had a couple of goes at it, ......but .........FAIL.

At this point i had snuck in the queue, and gave it the nudge.

Apparantley, (this is according to Mike who was at the bottom again) a girlfirend of one of the boys was heard to say, "I want one" as I nailed the hill. Poor bastard's gonna be shelling out for a disco soon I suspect, if he wants to keep the missus happy..

Was a nice little play in the sand Nick. I was very impressed with the TD5....you managed to wind it up very nicely and followed my stock V8 D1 manual up each dune we encountered. We left some of the lesser makes of truck in our wake and gasping in admiration at the ease with which we landies climbed the dunes

I hope to post some more footage tomorrow if I can work out how to post a video clip!

Did you do the "Dipper" down near the beach??

Its a big opening just on the inside of the dunes and probably not far from where you were there.
Has a vast dune opening to the ocean on one side, the open valley on the right, a big encasing dune on the left and a noice hill to climb in front of you....

Google earth co ords...

Christ I thought you were talking about me for a minute...
Good work! Is that the one on the way back from Derr's (or Dewar's depending on what side of the road you grew up on)? Although the exit looks a bit different at the top so maybe not?

Anyhoo, you can imagine my dismay when I'm 2/3's of the way up and some knob in a Patrol doesn't bother to see look if anyone's coming up and just starts turning downhill!

So, traction control screaming I manage to climb and weave past him to the p-weak sound of "sorry mate" from the driver - if I hadn't had tender ears in the car he'd have got a serious mouthfull!

LMR
The dipper's down off Pipidinny Rd I think, south of Yanchep...
Cheers
Mike

On a good day maybe, but i suspect on most days it would be hung up esp near the top. Too many having a crack so one little hole would beach it.

Def be fun trying though!

Maybe I'll try it in my friend's Forester. Lifted up as high as a patrol, with the biggest BFG tires I've ever seen

I was thinking about it, and all other things being equal, the independent suspension cars should be good for the sand, in relativley smooth conditions. Better diff clearance, and you would only really come unstuck if there were holes in the tracks, which can be easily filled in. You'd just need a decent drive system, no traction control, and a heavy right foot.

Def would be fun in something lighter, could be a chance of getting airborne.

Nick
