I'm keen, but depends on dates.
Rach has started a Uni course thats done on Sats/Suns on alternate weekends of the month, so as long as its NOT 11th-12th July I should be there.
Unfortunately one of her weekends is 1st-2nd August so I can't make the much anticipated Harvey trip......bummer.

Cheers,

I can go pretty much any date so I'll just go with the consensus.
Maybe anyone interested just post up when you CAN go and majority rules?

Kieran its OK you can't go to Harvey, its rubbish anyway

In York you got couple options

1. Go to the main park behind the main shopping strip and have a group BBQ for lunch

2. Go to one of the pubs in town and have counter lunch

3. Go to one of the Cafes in town for lunch

Facilities are pretty good as York is a tourist town.

Don't have any preference as to dates except the 5th July as we have 14 guests for lunch coming over

As said, I prefer earlier rather than later in July just to separate it from the Harvey Trip.

cartm58 (or anybody), do you have some first hand knowledge of this track?

The reason I ask is that the person who posted the track on the "4x4 Earth Australia for 4WD Tracks" web site is a user named "cazza". When I look for some information about this user on that web site I find he has zero posts and lists his post code as Victoria. So I am wondering whether this track is legit and not just someone doodling about.

If you're talking about the Mundaring Powerlines track, quite a few of us have fairly extensive knowledge of it. If you do the whole track (Mundaring Weir Rd to Talbot Rd), it'll take the better part of a whole day, as it usually gets quite crowded over weekends.

Two alternatives are to start from Gorrie Rd (about a third of the way up) or Flynn Rd (about halfway up). The more challenging climbs are in the last half, although there are some interesting puddles between these two.

From the Talbot Rd finish you can keep to the tracks and come out fairly close to York, but in all honesty it's probably not worth it, other than a quick gander at Mt Observation. You can just head back to Gt Southern Hwy from Talbot and then blacktop to York - about 10 mins.

Cheers,

Gordon
