There are two types of wire brushes: the kind that use you as a dart board and last a couple of months of part-time use; and the twisted-wire type, which hold together very well and rarely throw a bristle. Twisted-wire is available for angle-grinders and I think also bench-grinders - I do know that the one on my bench-grinder is excellent and is probably twisted.

An alternative for rusty parts is to put them in a molasses bath; I think it wins out of the three methods for most jobs, because it is: cheap; works while you do something else; safe; cleans inside where bristles and grit can't reach; completely removes rust even in the deepest pits.

    Nice work Stu!

    Cheers Charlie

It'll clean things up beautifully for painting or even if you just want to clean up galvanised pieces lightly for clear-coating or just leaving as galvanised. (I promise I won't throw in my bits while you're at it!)

" It wandered all over the place, probably needs an alignment, the gear changes were difficult and didn't like to go in once it warmed up, and its in definite need of a tune, but it was great fun!"

You were told by Uncle Arthur to use the right oil...........

Castrol Syntrans 75W90 would do the trick.

Slots in nicely alongside a 10W to 20W crankcase oil.

Not many updates lately so doing a quick one while I wait for the wheels on the 101 to get aligned. I've made quite a bit of progress and hoping to get over pits on Tuesday. hectic weekend last weekend but got loads done. Big jobs left are wheel arches, sway bar fitting and then quite a few little jobs.

It was in at lifestyle4x4 over the week getting some final bits on the driveline sorted and it's running lovely now with no leaks! My gear shift problems were user error. I was missing the gate completely... A big drive from morley to west Perth and no issues.

    Very happy right now.
