this is what you want i presume ? From my experience if you are building yourself will cost around $35000 and take 6 years, they are a challange to drive ,pretty thirsty as you need a petrol version to make it go ,a lot of work but oh so worth it !

its on a 109 chassis with top chassis cut lower, env axles front and rear,will put in salisbury s later with diff locks and coils, it has shower/toilet ,hot water , 3 tanks for water, 2 tanks for fuel, 3 beds ,rear bedroom and front lounge from front swivel seats, inside cooker and fridge , outside bbq bla, bla,pictures of interior download later when have some.

1/ Where do I find one and how often do they come up for sale?
I think the best bet in acquiring a 101 is YOU have to advertise that you are on the lookout and how much you are looking to spend. i.e. Advertise in the wanted section here and anywhere else you can find.
2/ Which model is the one to look for, I want something I can use as a light truck and maybe for camping/4WDing and towing
I would say a standard 101 on LPG. (But I am biased.:angel:)
3/ What are they like to drive, can they do the speed limit on flat ground?
Mine will do the speed limit no worries although I have oversized tyres, which helps a little. I love driving it, although it is breezy and a bit hot in summer. You are sitting on the V8 so no need for a stereo - you wouldn't be able to hear it. TO be honest, I wouldn't want to travel more than 500km in a day on highway, it is harder work than a 110.
4/ What should one expect to pay? I don't mind if it needs some major mechanical work but I'm not into panel beating
For a 101.
10K to 15K for one that needs work
20K + for one that is "all sorted"
5/ What should I look for when shopping around e.g. Rust...
Rust was all I was concerned about, the rest can be repaired or replaced.
6/ Are parts readily available
Parts can be obtained but not quickly for some unique bits.. Join the 101 club (UK) and you will soon learn. 101 is made up from bits or Series 3 Stage 1 and RRC vehicles with various unique parts - Steering column, manifolds, brake booster. Much of it can be sourced through the 101 Club although don't be in a hurry. :) [THey are good guys, but after all it is just a club with volunteers.] Other stuff can be purchased online or from your local LR specialist.
