    Nice synopsis Mick.

Oh, and even with those pages of replies, that member still hasn't got a response on when those parts will be available.

Yes but the history goes back at least 3 years - the latest spat is exactly that the latest spat. The last lot involved non members being banned from the forum and prior to that is was members leaving because of the parts (or lack of parts) issue.

Old issues being revisited time and time again.

As I have said previously I would rather pay a bit more and get parts rather tahn buy through the club and very possibly not get them at all. As far as the knowledge base - Ron helped me a lot when I first got my 101 and over the years I have learnt more myself to the point I pretty well know it inside out and when I do need more information I can generally find it here.

I left the club because it was not suiting my needs but continued to be on the forum where I happily contributed more to their knowledge base than I ever got out of it then was essentially accused of bludging on their forums when they decided to close it to non members - their loss not mine.

They did not seem to under stand that the forum would help their club grow like it has for the Series 1 Club and other clubs like the E-Type club.

Anyway - their loss not mine.

Yes. I can see you're rather worked up about that. You signed your name twice.

Closing up the forum was a backward move for the club. They saw it as an attempt to force people to join the club. At first, it appeared to work but now I think the club is driving people away from the forum and the club. We've noticed a few join up here (and they are welcome).

What I think the club should do is split the club from the forum, only in the way they administer.
If you are a member of the club, you have access to all areas of the club, forum, spare parts, magazine, etc.
If you are a subscriber to the forum, you have access to the forum & spare parts but not the "club only" section of the forum.
If you join the forum for free, you have unrestricted access to the forum except the "subscribers only" and "club only" sections. Oh, and no spare parts (for legal reasons, apparently.)

The club fees will remain as they are. The subscriber fees perhaps a little less.

Well, that's what I would do if I was dictator.

The parts issue is not really a parts issue. It is a communication issue. It's so clear even Blind Pew could see it.

Oh, well. What can you do? Something about blind horses and water springs to mind.

Mmm, all good fun!! Well, I never got to joining in the UK because I heard similar stories over there... which put me off joining now... Reiterated by these last comments/issues.. Pitty really, thinking it'd be money well spent joining up now just so I could read those four pages!! ... IPad.... Screenshot and post here anyone?... On a brighter note, my 101 is somewhere between Montrose and Cockatoo Valley, having just been overtaken by another forum member who's carrying the tyres for the 101 he's just overtaken... He'll be going back with an engine and gearbox... Not the ones out of the 101 he's just overtaken!!!

Returning to the first issue of parts availability.... I used to know a guy in the UK called Graham Holding.. He had a yard full of 101's and other treasures, and used to deal in them, Pink Panthers and Lightweights... I could try and catch up with him and see if he'd be interested in sending stuff over here... Maybe a box every 6 months to Our 'Melbourne agent' and it gets distributed from there?? Just a thought.

It is, but just like reading a plot summary for a big action film you can't help but feel that seeing it would actually be better?

Still, as mentioned before, happy to work as a rally point/proxy over here for parts or vehicles before sending stuff on.

Perhaps you'd get stuff quicker if it went to a UK address first?

Well just written to the committee offering my services. We'll see what happens. Very surprised they don't have committee meetings . How does that work?
Sounds like they are very overloaded with too few helpers.

Overloaded by what? I can see why the parts department is busy with only one guy doing that in between working and getting married, but what do the rest of them do? Not being a smartarse here, I genuinely don't know what anyone does.

I don't even know what places are up for grabs?

I think Darren just takes the money an passes it on.
Martin then packs and agonises over saving a few pence in the selection of transit.

If it was me I'd just send it by post. They deliver to post boxes.

I think Darren restocks as well.

No idea what they do Gav but I presume they are elected positions. Not even sure of the structure. I am happy to keep " glass half full" on this.

Well good on you for having a crack. Keep us all up to date on what you learn, it may help myself and others try to understand some of the thought processes going on there.
