I'd want to run the standard front panel but I would use 110 inner guards and probably the doors as well. I'd modify the firewall so the standard 110 floor and seat box could be used also. I think I'd use the 110 wiring harness and fuse box. Hopefully I could shoehorn the 110 radiator in there. I may even use the 110 windscreen on the series firewall and modify the series 2 roof to fit. I'd use the 110 seats and wipers. And it would have my p76 efi motor with coil packs and megasquirt efi.
Sounds like it'd b easier to just put your V8 in the 110...

I've driven an 88" with a P76 4.4litre and it is a scary place to be!

The back end wants to overtake the front.

For point of reference the 101 box is 4 inches shorter overall than a V8 R380/LT77 and Lt230 conbo or LT95.

They were commonly used in early 88" coiler hybrids.

I suspect finding a complete 101 box would be the simplest plan.
In general internals are the same as similarly aged Rangie boxes.

Well it's just an idea at the moment folks.

The 110 is a tray back but needs a heap of work. Originally I was going to it to go around Australia but my circumstances have changed. I'm not in a position to get these machines on the road at the moment so am just thinking. Maybe too much

A full time 4x4 v8 powered well built hybrid series 2 would be pretty cool

finding the bell housing is the problem.
A bloke who owned a landrover spares place at silverwater many years ago did it as he had access to 101 landy parts too.
Because of the short belhousing minimal chassis mods were needed.
I think he used disco axles as to get disc brakes.

I believe he still owns that Landy, it is a couple of hundred metres from my house, but the Landy's owner is never home when I knock on the door.

It does have a Defender grill and radiator panel rather than a set-back Series 2a panel, and headlights are in the mudguards. Not sure what is under the bonnet. It is super-tidy, always gleaming.

If it is the same vehicle and owner........he does shift work.
    Should have 3.5 V8.
It had a disco rubber mounted anti vibe weight fitted to the front diff housing.
The owner use to have a 1945 studebaker 6x6 up until five or six years ago.

That's the bloke Ron, over the years there have been several ex-army trucks and I remember there being a 101 parked there for a while, but that was when my age was in single digits

Whether you can get a V8 defender 90 R380 bellhousing and pinion I don't know.

Wouldn't bother with a LT77, the 5th gear is too weak.
Reading back through this post again. Was the defender v8 90 and 110 bellhousing different?
