Merry Christmas folks!
Merry Christmas folks!
Merry christmas to you too, spongie. Have a safe one.
Needs a blow up santa and blow up rain deer out front.
Not really an update but today I had a look at how the steering column and dash work together. Not sure I'm happy with it yet!
It's been windy over here in the UK and my axles blew off! Ready for me to fit two nice disc braked axles on!
Also I've been getting my turbocharger test fitted, it seems I will need to clock it as the actuator fouls the chassis rail
Hi Spongie,
You must have very understanding neighbours! Hell of an effort to make that level of progress when working outside in the rain.
What is the turbo? I thought you were fitting a Tdi, but that looks all wrong...
Love the orange by the way.
Ian.
Variable Geometry Turbo...
^___ what das says, it's a "variable nozzle turbo" off an Audi A6. It mates up on the standard 200tdi manifold. Often the conversion is done in a series etc with no hassle however I've had a problem as seen here with the engine sitting low in the chassis and the vacuum actuator (to be binned) fouling the chassis. This is rectified by opening up the turbine and removing 3 bolts retaining the vane wheel in place, rotating the vane wheel by 120 degrees and reassembling the turbo in alignment to match the vane wheel, this then moves the actuator to the top instead of the bottom.
I'd be very careful pulling a turbo apart..... Bear in mind that when its working it can be spinning up to 125000 rpm..

1991 VW Citi Golf Cti (soon to be Tdi)
'When there's smoke, there's plenty of poke!!'
'The more the smoke, the more the poke!!'
It's fine, if it falls apart in operation the turbine will fire itself up the wife's backside...
