Also fitted a tilton triple brake fluid reservoir to replace the crumbling originals, I`ve had the clutch and brake master cylinders and brake booster overhauled, just need to refit and then see the state of the wheel cylinders.

Started making a list of brackets and panels etc I have to make, and slowly discovered that most of the bits I need were just hidden amongst the other stuff so Saturday turned out to be a good day. I was all fired up to connect all the wiring and give the motor a try but run out of time. Sunday we ran a TeamW4 trip up the coastal dunes, a great day out but no progress in the Shed.

Does anyone have a photo of where the original exhaust pipes run?

If I'd looked at the forum earlier, I'd have a photo for you. Have a complete second hand exhaust on the ground here that's rough but will do for photo purposes. Will set it up and take one tomorrow. Too dark now!

Thanks simon, no big rush still plenty to do.
Was thinking I might just run 2 seperate pipes just follow inside the chassis down each side.
Still having dramas trying to find suitable 7/8 hose elbows for the heater pipes and really should source a handbrake cable before the radiator goes back in.
I've hosed up the brake / clutch reservoirs and will chuck some fluid in this week and see if comes out anywhere else.
Put power to the fuel pump and it makes a "running" noise so might put a bit of petrol in the tank and give the motor a go next chance I get.
Might even get a chance to drive it around the block soon. I ve never driven a 101 so I'm quite excited.

    Exhaust!

Ok, here's the pics of my old exhaust.. As far as I'm aware its std. Its rough, hence the silver repair in the middle. It was some pipe I had under the bench! And yes, the 'y' piece where the two sides really is a straight Tee! Gas flowed... NOT! The 'hump' in the RH pipe where it crosses over is to clear the rear prop. The silencer I believe to be the same item as a 109 V8 or 6 cyl.. Things I'd recommend if you are doing a system... Use 2" on each bank up to the 'Y'. There's not much room for much more. Use a 'Y' not a Tee!... Then finish the system in 2.5".. (Tho if you are serious about having a stab at the V8 Diesel again later on, make the last bit out of 3"!!).. One thing is for sure tho.... Make sure you link the two banks together into one pipe.... Why?.. There used to be several V8's running around in the UK off road club I was in that were running two single pipes.. Some had one either side and some had two singles set apart at the rear... Honestly, they sounded crap! You loose that lovely V8 burble that the Rover seems to have. Only my opinion tho! Hope this helps. Cheers, and looking forward to more progress and seeing yours on the road! SWMBO is still going on about a road trip to Perth.. What with you, Stuee, and now Offender90 (Bojan) being out there, a trip might come into fruition next yr!!
