Hi Ian. I fitted a Nissan FD6 (5.7 6 pot diesel) against the LT95 to my 101 in the UK. I got the engine as close to the rad as I could and still had to shift the gearbox back 150mm.. This meant for a short rear prop (as will the Cummins conversion) but the extra length got rid of the 101's front prop drone. As the engine and box are always tipped slightly to the rear, a short rear prop is not an issue.. We had a Series 1 in the UK that I had a Land Rover Turbo D engine and LT77 in it. Rear prop was under 300 mm and it was never an issue.

This one appears to have the gearbox / TC on the original mounts and the engine looks to sit on a similar angle to what a rover V8 would usually sit, so at the moment the prop shaft angles should be pretty close to original. Would a double cardon shaft on the front make things any better? The angle at the front diff nose doesn't look too bad, Just the T C end.

There have been many solutions mooted to sort the problem, the only two I've found to work have been use good quality joints on the front prop and keep em well greased, or move the transfer box back and run a longer prop.

The rear prop angle I had with the auto looked horrendous, but NEVER gave trouble.
I'm also aware of 'competitive' 101's that have had engine and box shunted back a foot for weight distribution reasons and they seem to work ok, although a few are coilers with the nose of the diff angled upwards some.

That's funny, I never had you pegged as a closet rivet counter. Are you sure putting the diesel in is the right thing?

There's some things that have to be right.... Knowing the indicators are at he top, I'd had to have them at the top.. Same as knowing that the 101's marker lights are always round... so when I eventually upgrade them to NAS lights, they will have to look right.... Just me I guess... Re the diesel.... Ohhhh yessss! You should hear it!!! Think it'll even give Ian's V8 diesel a run for its money in the sound department!!!

By the way, what diameter are the trailer lights that you require? Have seen some very similar round LED divided tail/indicator lights with the indicator around the outside circumference and the stop/tail lights in the center...

Sorry to hijack the thread but this will be a quickie.
I'm after the genuine lights. I have sourced some 10V-30V globes for them. Being multi voltage it doesn't matter if I tow the trailer behind the 101 (24V) or the Inter (12V). I do have a nice set of 10V-30V Narva tail lights if I wanted to civilianise it but I like counting rivets.

I have an auto kicking around but. Haven't decided whether I want to keep the pto winch or not
The PTO winch would be just the ticket for my series one

Andy if you see the size of the P T O winch, it wouldn't even fit in the back of you ser 1 never mind under Neath, you should drop round the workshop and have look before I take it home.
