It's a bit tougher over here - they will check the speedo during the road test. A RWC is getting quite hard to get now - the licenced testers have to take photos of any defective items as well as some mandatory points - like tyres, etc, and must be filed for 7 years. Testers won't run the risk of doing bodgey roadies any more as it is much easier for them to be sprung.
That's about the only item they could fail on this vehicle - it will stand up to any scrutiny.

Well the day has finally come...
The 101 has had the following work done to it over the last month or two...
* Rear main seal replaced
* Engine oils replaced
* Viscous fan replaced
* Hand brake adjusted
* Rear brakes adjusted
* New speedo cable
* Clutch pedal,master clyinder, pipes removed
* New double carbine front prop shaft installed
* LPG system removed - inspected and non Australian compliant
* New radiator cap installed
* RWC and Club Registration
* Normal lights / lower spot lights converted to HID
* Australian Inverter installed
* Exterior light wired up (was installed, not wired in though)
* Engine tuned by a Land Rover "expert"...
* Rear view mirror installed
* Flame traps installed
* Small convex mirrors installed on main mirros
* Drivers seat adjusted - goes all the way back now..
That's the main points - anyway, time for some pics!
First up - Club registration plate and Head Lights converted into HID (the alternator couldn't keep up when all lights were on):

The LPG tank used to live here - the entire LPG system has been removed. It was inspected and found not to be Australian compliant in anyway. It's gone - and one day a second petrol tank will go here:

The UK inverter was removed, and an Australian one installed. This has 2xUSB chargers and 2xPower Points:

The UK style marine/caravan plug has been replaced when an Australian 15amp plug. The theory being that you plug this in when at a caravan park:

These power points have been converted from UK - to Australian. These only work when the Car is plugged into Mains using the above 15amp lead...

I painted them with an engine enamel, figuring that they would get hot. Here is one hanging in the tree drying. Both sides have been painted/installed:

There was carpet glued/installed directly behind the engine cover. When the rear main seal was replaced we damaged the glued carpet when removing it. I have replaced the carpet, but this time velcro'd it on:

Sand Blasted. Rather than spend hours with a wire wheel, I payed $25 to have it sand blasted and coated in primer:

Now that the 101 is finally on the road, I plan to start using it. As my journey through 101 ownership begins I have no doubt that I will look at future changes/modifications. The only plans on the to-do list are:
* Purchase a spare tyre, and work out a way to install it on the vehicle.
* Install a second petrol tank
* Replace the CB (UK one, so different frequency)
None of these are urgent - I want to get out and enjoy the vehicle!!!

With Historic Rego - I assume you are on the Vic 90 day plan rather than just the club use plan. I wish we had the 90 day plan where I am.

Whilst on the subject of 101's, I fired up the garden ornament today. It hasn't moved in a long time.
You need to sort the kickdown, the kickdown cable serves 2 purposes, one if for kickdown....but the other is for line pressure, its engine load feedback, so increases line pressure the more the foot is down. not good for the auto to run low line pressure as it burns out clutchesQuote:

I had the roof top tent removed and the rear ladder removed. I did that because I found the tent too much of a hassle to use - so I figure that I will save on a bit of weight, and it gives the 101 a bit of a cleaner look.
I will keep the tent/ladder and if/when I eventually sell the vehicle, the new owner can re-install them if they so choose:

The 101's engine has been running like a dog, so I had it looked at by Romsey British Automotive. They:
Replaced LHS exhaust manifolds
Replaced RHS exhaust manifolds
Replaced Spark Plus + HTC Leads
Replaced Ignition Coil (the old one was leaking)
Adjusted the timing & idle on the carbies
Replaced Ballast Resistor on the Coil
I have to say that the 101 is now quieter (well, a little bit) and is driving better.
Oh - and I have also decided on a name.... "Dirty Harry" :wasntme:
Always good when things get done and see an improvement.
Question is how long until something else needs doing.
