Hi All,
Took the 101 to the Rob Roy Hill climb yesterday - I thought about running it, but didn't want to show off, so I displayed it instead...

I will post up a seperate Rob Roy thread in trip reports...
After Rob Roy I scooted off home via Broadford:

Hi All,
I took the 101 to the Yarra Valley Historic Truck Show yesterday - along with some other AULRO members.
Yesterday though I attended to a small job that has been on the list for a long time...
My petrol cap has always been black:

Well - now it has been painted the correct colour:

That attended to - I washed the 101, and even put tyre shine on the tyres!
Here is a picture of the 101 at the event - parked next to Gav's lovely rig:

I will post up more pictures of the event, in another thread that has already been started..
Cheers,
GG.
Tom how is it with the new donk?
Cheers, Mick.
Hi Mick,
The new donk is great - it starts first time, every time.. [thumbsupbig]
And the power... I can keep up with traffic easily, and often it no longer has to kick down when going up a hill.
Fuel Consumption is still a bit of an unknown - although the engine is working easier, I think that I am still going through the same amount of fuel because you tend to drive with the traffic... Lol!
The main aim of the new donk was always - reliability, starting, easier driving.. I had hoped for better fuel consumption but it wasn't a top priority.
Very happy - I can recommend it to any other 101 owners... I rekon that a GS 101 would simply fly - being lighter and smaller than an ambulance body.. [biggrin]
Cheers,
Tom.
Yep, it is a really nice conversion. My GS would fly with that engine in it, but as I was whistling down the ring road yesterday arvo in the right lane doing 110 in mine easily overtaking everything in sight with the OD engaged, I don't think I'll be bothering any time soon. [bigwhistle]
I noticed your 101 stands a bit higher and doesn't have the parabolic springs under it.
Do you know what springs are under it.
regards
Ron
Hi Ron, after a trip last years my parabolic springs were very tired. I took the 101 to Carroll’s springs in Melbourne. They re-tempered the springs and added a helper spring.. Yep - it sits a little higher because of it.
Glad to see Duzzit is still going strong even with a new heart. that old auto box was out of wife's range, did 2 tours of the Sahara and 240K before going into 101, never did sort hi lo lever. Nice pics of the old girl down under.
Ah - didn't know it already had a name!
I've been lucky enough to take it for a spin with the new engine - sits on 100 easy as and hardy notices hills any more. [emoji16][emoji106]
