Well, I called AJ bright and early this morning and he had a good second hand unit ready for a new home. I made a small (large) detour on the way to a job and grabbed it, so I'll fit it on Saturday. It's in good condition and runs freely back and forth.

He has some other interesting stuff going on too, which will lighten my wallet later this year.

All I have to say at the moment is if you're thinking of getting a Zeus disk brake conversion for your 101 any time soon - hold off.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

Is that the one that a guy in SA developed using modified D3 rear brake disks?? I understand that AJ was going to use his design. I have some pics of it somewhere.

That's correct - AJ has 5 sets of rears ready to go and is waiting on his engineer to machine the front sets. What I like the best with this is apart from the adaptors all the parts are off the shelf Land Rover items. The disks do need work to make them fit, but at least they aren't a special.

To look at them on the vehicle they look completely original. With the D1 brake booster they work bloody well as well.

As soon as he has the fronts back, I'll be grabbing a set off him.

Price for the entire kit isn't 100% worked out yet, but the will be cheaper than the Zues conversion - by quite a bit by the looks of it as there is only 1 custom part and 1 modified part and everything else off the shelf or even second hand if that's your thing.

As I understand it - as the D3 rear disk has to accommodate a brake drum in the disk housing it can be modified to fit the 101 hub. The inner hole is turned out to fit over the 101 hub - in doing so it takes out the D3 stud holes as the 101 hub diameter is greater than the D3 PCD.

As the D3 brake disk and brake drum is designed to take a set of brake shoes there is enough room after the hub hole has been enlarged for the modified disk to bolt up to the 101 hub in a similar manner as the zeus product. So as you mentioned uses the D3 rear disk (modified), the D3 caliper and I assume a purpose made caliper bracket similar to the zeus one.

Here are some pics of the prototype

    No, not like that.

Uses a machined D3 disk as you said but uses defender calipers and the caliper brakets (on the rear at least) are standard Land Rover items too. Not sure about the fronts, he didn't have any there to look at.

There is an adaptor that fits onto the hub somehow - can't remember exactly how, but it's a bit different to what you've shown.
