101 Door Tops - Sliding Windows

Subsequent to me putting up this thread I found this (scroll down) Rocky Mountain Products, Parabolic Springs, Shackle Kits, Shock Absorber Kits

Missed it first time around - I think I just got to the third item from the top and as 101 tops were not listed there got the huffs [bigsad] and went searching elsewhere when I should have looked further.

Given I paid over $300 for a single unglazed top in Aust a couple of years back I think the RM price of about $550 AUD for a pair of fully glazed tops is quite good. Shipping will be expensive and I have asked for an estimate but I forgot to ask whether they are a tax collector on behalf of the Australian Government.

They will be able to ship it tax free and I’m sure the Freight company will catch up with the taxes when it enters the country. That’s what happens to every decent purchase I make anyway.

Edit - actually, I think they may point you to a local supplier who is their distributor in Australia - I recall being pointed to them when I enquired about their parabolic springs - they wouldn’t supply me directly, but that agent isn’t on their website any more so hopefully they will now.

Not if it is being shipped door to door - the exception is DHL which add their own charges.

The exception will be if it is actually stopped by Customs then they may levy GST (but not likely if under the old $1000 limit or is flagged for some other reason. While the customs invoice may be forwarded by the shipping company it should be an Customs invoice not one from the shipping company.

So I have asked him to let me know if they are going to go ahead and if he would put up a post on the forum as well.

So in the short term maybe it will be modifying the standard frames - the main issue is the clips on the front window - I guess model the Perentie windows.

Able engineering (on FB) are saying that door tops are now in stock,

Thanks but they are just the door tops and a very very very very expensive price (2x anyone else) not glazed - and not in the Rocky Mountain style where both windows slide. The unglazed Able tops are more expensive than the RM glazed tops.

I do not need new door tops as such as mine are perfectly serviceable but I would like to have the front panes so they can open - yes I can modify what I have but I have better things to do and it would be easier to simply buy them ready to go.

Hopefully RM will go back into production.
