Someone turned up at a gathering at the Caribbean market in VIC many years ago with a TD5 fitted in a 101.
I don't have any contact details unfortunately.

Found a picture, it was a 65th gathering, the rego doesn't come up on the VicRoads website.

All I remember was that he lives out Gippsland way, was a mechanic and said “never again - it was far too difficult”…

I believe that quite a few run three hundred tdi - although I would be worried that it is under powered and the three hundred tdi isn’t a spring chicken anymore. Although it is a good engine.

I spoke to Andrew at Les Richmond Automotive about that - he said that a four BD one would shake the FC to bits. (It is a rough engine).

Andrew put a four point six in my FC and it totally transformed it.

Stage 3 4BD1 would be the ideal engine, not rough at all in a 110 county and a 101 is more agricultural.
300TDI would be good also and not underpowered compared to the anemic 3.5 V8 and at least with a diesel you can drive it without having to stop at every servo .
