That radio body sounds mint. The wheels on the ambo look too small though.

I still dont like how easily they lift the rear wheels going down a hill. Going to bee some stressful times ahead when I finally get to learn the 101's capabilities.

I like taking someone in the front of the 101 who has never been in one before and go down a very sleep hill.
Unless the passenger is use to forward control vehicles the look on their faces can be priceless....
The main thing is to take evey thing square on and not let one front wheel drop into a hole without the other.
Lifting the rear wheels due to lack of flex in the rear suspension is why a Detroit in the rear diff works so well.
The sideways roll over on a 101 GS is good........ambo body most likely poor .
Garrycol is the 101 down hill rear wheels lifting champion and lived to tell the tale.

Ive had onlookers thinking I was going to die a few time when trialing my old GS, I've had the back axle 3 feet off the ground before.

Just found a video of it, at this point running a 3.9efi and auto box.

Stuee, when those back wheels both lift, you have two options... Plant the go pedal to the floor, or plant the go pedal to the floor!!! (And pray that you remembered to engage the CDL!!! ). I had one memorable moment at an AWDC trial in the UK where the rear of my old one decided to depart company with the ground on a long shale decent in a quarry.. From memory we exited the slope in excess of 80kph, looking like a couple of ghosts!

If going down hill and there are wombat holes go real slow - lower in the front into the hole on the brakes so you can fell the movement of the vehicle - it is momentum that will roll it. The rear wheel can get quite high but if you lower the the front wheel into the hole on the brakes you will generally be OK. If things start to go belly up I think turning toward the downside is your best hope. If you are going over the downside of the hole might get caught on the bumper and save your bacon.

Forward control vehicle do fall over (my Haffie also wants to fall over as well) but if you are aware of the issues and are careful it is not such an issue.

Found this on YouTube... Happened to be reading a copy of 'Six Stud' magazine, and it made mention of it... The 101 Club has the whole DVD of the journey (£10) where they tested 4 101's and a driven trailer to two (which I believe we're more trouble than they were worth). Having not seen 'Six Stud' before, I have to say it is a very well put together magazine for a small club.

Not 101s but the Competition - but still great to watch

This a a great vid of 6x6 Pinzgauers to watch - a bit slow at the start but get good.

Note the chains, the front/rear winch arrangement, the right way to snatch, 6x6s do get bogged, the mud and rain - the fun they seem to be having.

They do mention Landrovers but not understanding the lingo I assume they are bagging us - something like Landrovers can't do this
