new 101 owner

I understand the 101 water pump is different.
British 4wd has them as does another landrover dealer in Vic( I dont remember the name)
If all else fails I have a spare.
The other bit of information .....if you ever need it ....fleetguard still has listing and stock of air filters( a hang over of supplying the Aust army)
I suspect the pump is similar to the rangie one , but the pulley arrangement would be different.
For the heater hoses on the steel pipe running around the front I purchased a lenght of straight hose and then cut lenghts of to suit.
The only one I havent done is the 90 degree bent jobbie in the fan tunnel and that should be easy to match up with some sort of car.

Had some more luck today and managed to find some gas components to suit the rover v8, i took it of a complete rover 3500s sedan. it has a 90 litre stainless tank with it but its out of date and doesnt have a lock off solenoid on the tank.m so now have another job to add to the list.

Gary dropped around today with his new 101 so that I could take her for a spin. I have never driven a 101 before but after today....I want one :p

The 101 would have to be one of the most pleasurable ex army vehicles to drive of it's generation. It has a powerful Rover V8 and gearbox, an excellent view from the drivers position and a 4x4 ability to go just about anywhere.

The donut plates are good gear and will fit the 101 with a bit of stuffing around.
The Stainless gas tank is a different story.
It is most likely a Myttons brand.
These tanks have a compact sub compartment and tank valve set up.
The system is called a Multi Valve........where all the tank valves are in the one unit.
These valves are expensive to replace for tank retesting ( 400 + dollars)
The multi valves have been know to fail in the tank 80% fill limiter part of the valve.
Another problem with these tanks is any dents in them and they will not be passed for testing.
These tanks have good points of light weight smaller size and good looks.
It is most likely not worth retesting the tank.
The gas convertor will be OK , but I would get a overhaul kit fitted to it before fitting or used anyother three stage gas convertor with good max flow rates.
The Med S21 filter lock is good gear and a filter clean or replacement will be fine.
The petrol lock off is a good type too .
If the ACME filler fitting you have is going to be too hard to fit ,a universal commercial filler will fit to the rear x member and are a better install with not much out lay.
You better get friendly with your local LP Gas fitter.
The gold you got with that second hand system is the no longer advailible
purpose made donut plates.
On my plates I hade to remove the steel vapour inlet pipes from the alloy donut plate and then thread the holes to take a 90 degree right angle brass fitting so the vapour hose would clear the engine when fitted .
I think on the range rover and car V8s the vapour hose runs to the top of the carbies whisle on my 101 I swappped the donut plates side to side with the vapour hose running from the bottom up to the carby using the brass elbows as this way saved any cutting and clears every thing.

Any reason you altered your donuts to have the feed from the bottom rather than the top ? .i grabbed the tank with the rest of the gear because my mate whos got the car knows a guy who tests tanks but also collects stainless tanks for some reason. if you give him a stainless tank he will test one for half price so i just have to find one the size i want and take the two to him. if the rest of the car doesnt sell i might buy the motor ,its got a airconditioner fitted so the brackets pulleys etc would be handy to have for a compressor set up. alot of the wrecks he has have had gas fitted so there are plenty of filing nozzles around there are even a few fancy chrome ones with a chrome flap. too many jobs and no time.

Don't I remember the vapour hoses coming in the bottom on the donor vehicle?

Was very tight and I think the hoses had a slight kink.

101 inlet manifold is different and the carbies sit alot lower.
Gaz will figure it out.

Looking for details on air filters and this thread came up... Old I know, but is this 101 and DODGE still about? Cheers! :)
