As with the upright sides, the basket sides also met with a change. The top of the Hab Box is tapered in at approx. 45 deg. The roof basket would look odd if it was vertical, so it too had to follow the taper. At this point I'd got the rear of the cab blocked where I thought it'd sit when the roof rack was loaded and with two people sat in the cab. I also had to guess how much clearance room I needed between the cab and Hab Box. A guess at 60mm was taken! With everything set, the first basket side was shaped and tacked together, and then clamped roughly in place. It was close, but not right...

It was removed and some length chopped out as I felt the overhang was too much. Round 2 looks more in scale me thinks! 60mm shorter and a matching right side made.

Is there a way to rotate pics on here, as 50% of mine are portrait and the other 50% are landscape....

The roof rack has another purpose too... I have a set of horns from a train (K5LA for the train fans... the sound you hear on an Amtrak train!). Some of you have met these horns when they were rigged up on the 101 for a Winter Wombat trip. I blew them by the pub on the main road, and they were heard in Wombat Camp... :). I now needed to link the sides, which involved cross rails forming the basket. The front rail needed to support these horns...

I also needed to link the basket sides at the back of the basket, the top of which would follow the hab box roof line.

Great to see they'll finally be installed somewhere permanently - remember too the time you had them at Melrose - some there were less than amused when you set them off. [biggrin]

I have never found one, but that is not to say there isn't a way, but it is probably better if the image is manipulated in your normal Prog. first & then dropped into a folder & extracted when you want them.

Posted images where one has to turn one's neck into Corkscrew Mode **** me off as well. A bit of a waste of effort if the reader cannot view them comfortably IMHO, & as such are ignored.

I see where those doors are now, great place to hide valuables from not so honest folk [bigwhistle][biggrin]

Looking at post #182 is there still enough clearance to tilt the cab?
That blue bar seems very close to the cab, or it could be the angle.

I wish I had your drive to get things done. I have been putting off a Rangie ute project for years, as I can see how much work is involved. With my stuffed back and arthritis in the hands I don't think it will ever get done.[bighmmm][bigsad]

Hi fella. So, the blue bar is part of the 50 x 50 SHS frame on the front face of the body (the open one beside it is a piece of 100 x 50 RHS) which will allow me to get the 2 copper pipes and power up to the wall mounted AC Head Unit). In that pic, the cab is sat down on wooden blocks (with the normal spring/shocker assemblies temporarily removed). I have that as a 'fully loaded cab' position with two people, the completed roof rack and two camp boxes atop the roof). With it clamped there I built the roof rack to have around 60-70mm clearance between the front body face and the back of the cab. It's now sitting in the workshop on its correct springs and I'd have closer to 100mm clearance at the top. I also plan to have a couple of soft rubber bump stops on the back of the roof rack just in case we hit that unseen speed bump or cattle grid at speed, and the cab tries to clobber the body.... :)

With a basic framework in place, it was time to get the roof rack down... Not easy when it's 3.5m in the air!! It was time to deploy the tractor ans a home made jib... Sorry about the pic being on it's side... Lots of mine are, but the forum is insistent on changing them!
