the rar bar on big red was fabbed up from exhaust tubing so not much weight...

I strongly suggest you look into making one up yourself if you want to get the weight savings...

If you dont mind a redesign and repositioning the spare wheel a bit I think it can probabley be gotten down to 5-6Kg for a swingaway.

But Have a think about how you're going to make the swingaway because with a little effort you can make on carry a fair bit more than just the tyre.

I usually like to squeeze at least a small air tank in the wasted space behind the wheel, a mount for a floodlight pole, hook up points for a swag. Go really advanced and you can get a table frame, gas bottle mount, jack + base plate mount, highlift and shovel mount all in one place. And its still not too much of a PITA to get the wheel off.

I just sold a winch bar from a 2004 Defender 110 X-treme and it weighed 48Kg.

Duke, Is the spare tyre a second spare? Remember the original spare comes under the original weight! Same goes for the cranking battery.
My defender has pretty much what yours has, without camping gear or food, its 2.87t. Including rooftop tent, 2nd spare, recovery gear, 163L fuel, 40L water, steel rims, 33" tyres, and fridge and slide.... safe to say yours should just come in under the limit. All weighed at the army base.

Yeah is a second spare, though I had just about talked myself out of it - I really don't want to put much weight on the roof.

I don't suppose you have the weights for those drawers from when they were sent up to you?

How's the roof top tent? You happy with that? SWMBO reckons it looks fun, but once again I'm not thrilled with weight up high.

One of my concerns is that work may want me to put an external roll cage on - which is also gonna add some weight (no idea how much just yet)

This sounds like some great advice.

I've seen some suggestions for slide/swing out tailgate tables - but I guess I'll try and get my weights sorted first.

A new 200 series would be over its GVM if you filled up the tank.

At least with a Defender you have options.
