Tigerz11 Winches and Air Compressors - Any Defender Owners Fitted Them?

When mounting winches like the Warn XD, I cut the heads off 4 x 3/8" bolts and screw them into the square nuts in the winch feet.

This makes it easy to put the winch into position and the bolts sticking through the holes take the weight. Then unscrew and replace each bolt, one at a time, without the nuts falling out of place.

I lifted a Warn M12000 into position with my Right arm whilst inserting the bolts with my left on the defender years ago... ;) You dont want to take too long to get the first 2 bolts in though :o

Bugger. Wish I'd known that when I mounted my Hawse fairlead. Ah well, least it costs nothing to drill two holes:D.

Just another question regarding the bar and winch, we have a 2002 extreme with the factory fitted bar ( stamped with Landrover ). The bar in question has the round holes in the webbing. It has press outs in the bar for winch fitting. The question is dose the bar need other bracing such as plates etc and are the press outs suited to a Warn or Tigerz11.

Unfortunately Tigerz11 only sell the non-offset type. However it was only about 5 minutes extra to move the hole while doing the other mods...

The only issue was that the nuts holding my Hawse fairlead actually fouled the body of the winch - the earth lead under the motor also did.

I noticed on the 4wd TV youtube clip they used spacer blocks and longer bolts, not sure whether the spacer blocks were supplied by Tigerz11 or just generic. I haven't seen them available.

I won't say what I've used to space the winch back 10mm, but needless to say I'll probably upgrade to the spacers:eek:.

was there enough wiring in the kit to run back to the deefy batteries or do you need extra.....if so what size cable did you use?

I just fitted a 12000 lb single speed. I mounted the controller under the bonnet and the cables to the winch didn't reach so i replaced them. The main power cable to the controller didn't quite reach, so I joined it with a minor patch lead. I would have preferred not to, but at least the join is in the battery box.

Mine's being fitted by Mulgo as we speak - was installed but not yet wired when I had it out for the last trip ;)

You did well to make it to the battery box - I ran out of cable somewhere round the start of the transmission tunnel.

I have the TigerzII 12000;b winch fitted to my 110. it works well and is a good winch. I used to have it fitted to a Nissan before and used it to recover others with no problems.

I currently have the 8mm plasma rope on it to lower the weight and for better recovery capability.
