I have had the usual 'nice jeep, my grandad had one of those in the 70s' or 'hows the land cruiser going?' Most people get shocked when I tell them its an 89 model .

So I was filling up at the local diesel pump and two large Maori blokes are across from me filling up an old Corolla and I nod to them. Kept pumping and looked over my shoulder and they are sill checking me out. Then the real big one starts over towards me and I've broken out into a cold sweat hoping that I hadnt cut them off or something coming in.
Big Maori bloke: "This your truck, bro?"
Me (nervously): "Er - yeah"
Big Maori bloke: "How much for one of these new?"
Me (diesel overflowing on the concourse): "Er - F-fifty sumthin K, I'd reckon." (gulp)
Big Maori bloke: "Thats the toughest looking, sickest truck ever - respect, bro".
Me: Yeah, thanks mate.
Took an hour for the smile to fade after that.
Pulled up behind and startled a mob of local footy players who were around a fire -in my 110 def tray -arb bar lights, winch ,a couple of ariels -big luggy tyres, etc etc -farm truck filthy dirty as usual - ""hell what the hell"" is that one cried -another yelled out -wheres your hummer -?
nah - i let the wife drive that -there a little to fragile for me.;)
I always get asked the same question. It really s**t’s me.
Remark - ‘Is that a Hummer’?
My reply - Nah, that’s a Land rover. The innovator not an imitator’
Oh my trip around Aus .i must have got asked hundred times " is that the new jeep" or "nice jeep mate"
Normal anwser to that is " Oh that's fighting talk that is. It's not a bloody jeep "
hahahaha, that's pretty common.
Yesterday a local barista asked how old the Landy was and was shocked when I said ten years (actually eleven, but who's counting :D )
"So they started making them again ?"
"No, they never stopped, and the new ones still look the same :D"
O'course he wants a Rangie "cause my Grandad had one and I love them"
Had to laugh myself not long ago. I have restored a few cars over the years and have built severial race cars, well i drove into a carpark with our 110 and a guy that knew me said **** Al another restoration, why a Landrover ? I just laughed ad said why not mate. They have no idea.
