My gutters look like yours (cracking and flaking) - but it's only over putty so I've never even given it any thought - trees have probably scratched more paint than this off the rest of the panels anyway :twisted:

Fortunately no rust, etc.

Might bring it up with the dealer next time I'm in there

These issues will be repaired under warranty - but unfortunately, this possibly won't really offer any log term fix....

Mine had all of those defects - still does - even after they repainted the gutters etc. numerous times. I've just come to realise, with a Puma, it's when the gearbox, clutch, transfer case, axles....require replacement - you really have issues.

Whenever I see a Defy - I look in the gutters - they all seem to be like that. Cracks everywhere. My 54 year old Series 1 has held up better - even as a working vehicle. And with the Ho Har treatment - it now shines - and I'm sure, it shall continue to do so, long after the Puma loses all credibility. :(

As for rust - I'm having a CouplerTec 4 coupler unit installed in August (under 3 months old) to arrest any problems before they start. It's interesting - if you buy a Conqueror camping trailer (or many other premium brands) you get a gal chassis and major parts - why don't LR do this or have a factory option?

The other area to watch out for is under the front passenger footwell mats. The flooring is steel, and mine had some minor superficial rust spots from some uncleaned swarf. Add the guaranteed leak from the firewall/pillar and rust will be your companion in no time. My old TD5 had it.

Will not be able to report on the effectiveness of the CouplerTec unit for at least 12 months, but statistically every major mining co and surf club in Australia fits them - and anecdotally when they are removed the vehicles crumble and degrade in a matter of months...
