OK dullbird - Sorry to annoy you so. It's unfortunate that my posts have, both now and in the past, had that effect - since they were only contributed in an attempt to help. This was news to me. I certainly don't come to this place looking for conflict. I do however think your reaction is unwarranted. Still - point taken. Good luck with your vehicle.

Guys, many thanks for all the suggestions.
I have not been able to replicate the clunk this morning, will try now on the way home. Have booked it with my indie specialist and will print out this thread for him![]()
I have what I think may be the same clunk that has just recently started occurring. Yes - it seems to happen when moving off but I have also noticed it at other times when slowing or picking up speed. I thought it might have been somethign loose in the rear door as that was just recently adjusted, but your desciption of it sounding like it is somewhere under the rear seats of your 90 (meaning it would be under the cargo area in my 110) is also accurate.
My vehicle is about to go back to the dealer for some follow-up warranty repairs (they damaged the internal roof lining whilst replacing the windscreen - which didn't actually need replacing so go figure). I'll post the outcome here if they find the cause. I now suspect it's either the rear diff or prop shaft.
Hi all, My experiece is it could be in the park brake assembly. When the shaft turns sometimes the drum and pads contact and move . Had it fixed on a 1985 and 2008 defender. all good now.
Hey Pete
had a lot of dramas with my park brake too...that was a culprit for a few things on my car also.
