Wow ! Gotta love a happy ending ... Good on you for sticking at it !
Don't let the story end here, we'd all be interested to know what follows ! :)
Cheers
Don't worry, story will continue as I will be using this thread to detail the 'restoration'. I use restoration loosely as I am still a bit undecided on what I will do. After looking at the car I realised the bumps and scrapes and faded paint all form a part of the character of the car, a ground up restoration would remove a lot of that character. I think what I'll end up doing will be more of a 'tidy up'.
I told my two sisters today that I'd tracked it down after 6 years of searching, and after there first reactions of disbelief, wondering 'why' and thinking I was a weirdo, they both called back, one of them nearly in tears, and told me they get 'why' and how they have always thought of CTI 060 whenever they see a defender cruising down the road. Even though the family has had about 10 Land Rover's between us over the years, this one has always stuck in our minds. We have all based our interests in life on the trip we did in this thing, and any family gathering usually has a story or memory from 'the trip' in it. The plan is to park it in the garage with the old camper on the back and send Mum in there to grab something. Watch this space!
OOH Sounds exciting for mum. I am sure she will love it. Stand by her side though in case she faints:)
