If you only want to slightly cool the front seat area, then it will be ok.Not sure how well it will work when you have the drivers window down to rest your arm on the door while driving though, mine never seems that good:D

A vehicle for sale on here recently had a Red Dot R6830 supplied and installed for about $2800 (without the compressor!). The cubby box was removed to make way for it. Temperature output was about 16 degrees though. A mob called Ryans in Bungalow (Cairns) did it.
I've been down the path of getting better performance out of my LR 300TDi aircon, including insulation on the roof, clear vinyl over the cargo barrier and soon insulation on the floor and drivetrain tunnel. I don't care much for aircon, but I do worry when I see the toddlers sweating. I'm on the lookout for a 130, so a smaller cabin might help.
Photo - well you can come look at mine if you are around Redcliffe somewhere.

Ta guys, really appreciate it. I think the installers figured it out now. His boss agreed to do the job but his installer doesn't seem to be too happy about doing it but he's in too far now mooohooohahahahaha! Be interesting to see how it goes. I believe most of it's in now but the wreckers forgot a few bits and pieces and they'll be there tomorrow so fingers crossed.
you didn't happen to take it to Redcliffe Care Electrics did you?
I could write a novel here, but the single biggest concern I have with the original Tdi set up is the holes through the firewall. Make sure you (or the installer) rubber grommet + Sikaflex/gum/anything/all of the above the holes around the tubes. With just the standard rubber grommets water works it's way in and runs down in between the two steel sheets in the footwell, sitting there and rusting them away.

Be interested to hear how you go. I've got a new TD5 defender kit (less compressor) waiting to go in.
