Defender Td5 traction control, can it be turned off

i have never driven a car with traction control so i cannot argue the point..........however i would have thought, lets say two td5's side by side one with traction control and the other twin locked my money would be on the twin locked, i'm only thinking this as a twin loccked car has four wheels driving all the time unlike a TC controlled car

I won't get into why you need to torn it off but there are times you do. It has been proven on a trip
I ran where we hit a huge dune and hp and no traction control won. The tc on stopped it short

My money would be on driver :)

My explanation would be TC driven wheels stop when no traction (off the ground, muddy soup, etc.) More power goes to "active" wheel, so it gets more torque. We have to remember an engine has limited power, so spinning wheel wasting it, and only 1/25 goes to each active wheel in moment of time. Using a throttle pedal becomes an art. And if you have "quick" foots, breaking time to time helps to move even further. I guess drivers in twin locked cars relaying mostly on lockers and deep throttle.

Lockers is good, I'd install one in rear axle only. TC is good too, and it's already there, virtually free :)

twin locked v8 vs TC TD5 towing a 2T tandem the Lockers dug in and sunk where the TC stopped it from digging in allowing back and forthing in the tracks to get through. neither made the dune climb. Changing drivers between the vehicles on different sections of fresh track produced the same result just at differing locations. The native driver of the tow vehicle got the better performance in that vehicle.
