Nope. The defender rear cargo seats are different. They were a dealer fitted option and cost somewhere between $2500-$3500. They are also far different from what is on offer for the Puma.

Easo. You will need to check the compliance plate. Regardless of whether you fit up genuine items or not, if the complience plate doesn't include them, you will have to get it engineered. And, good luck getting the series/county seats engineered depending on the model.

Leafers are so easy.

Also, technically, all forward facing seats must be occupied first before using side facing seats. Then there is the Adult and Child designations that were introduced.

Hence I love my Stage 1. Complienced on the plate for 10 Adults, and with a full 1 tonne plus payload, totally fine.

My 88 County has the rear sideways seats. Registered as a 9 seater. CTP is more expensive once you go over 8 people. That little fold down step is a must with the rear seats, otherwise it's difficult to get in to the car.

Dont know what they would be like off road but plenty of room in side

I've currently got 3x2 pine and 6x1 boards across mine and its a PITA as it can't be moved for putting big stuff in the back (shoulda bought a 130 but there ya go.......... )

PO installed it. Just checker with two hinges and latches.
pretty simple to knock up.Folds back and can be held to cargo barrier for bigger loads.I put all the heavy recovery stuff under there, if something goes wrong it will have to get through the plate and cargo barrier, so a safe option.

That is a 130" nor a 110". Like that middle door though. Would be good to have this shape door in a normal 130 instead of the one cut at an angle.

When I converted my dual cab 130 into a station wagon I installed two inward facing benches at the rear, giving me 9 seats in total.
The most important things are the proper seat belt mountings. Get it engineered was no problem.
In NSW they call it a minibus.

I have a have a 9 seater 99 TD5, well i should say had. Insurance killed me for them. It is classed as a mini bus when you have more than 8 seats.
I did get caught when I bought the truck. It had the fitment sticker to say they were installed correctly and within Aust standards, but the previous owner didnt get the compliance plate changed from 5 to 9 seaters.
Another thing that must be considered now, well at least in QLD. No one under the age of 9 can not be seated sideways. Due to the child restraint laws.

It is not you cannot get side facing ones complienced, just the series type ones in defenders, as they do not have an integral base, but a couple of bits of angle, and tie on cushions. Also, to fit them as per original, they are only held in by 2 bolts through sheet ali with NO reinforcment. The Seat belts where applicable, have welded nuts on a steel subframe, but no-where neaar the coverage needed for modern complience.

Snake2093 has posted a pic of the defender model ones I spoke about, and won't be a problem. Nor would most modern integral seats with plated mountings and seatbelt fixing points.

Pre complience plates, you just drill 4 holes and viola, extra 4 dudes in the car. Can't say it is excactly safe, but perfectly legal.

I've had county/series seats fitted to a '95 Defender and had them complianced in Queensland. I needed to have reinforcing plates with rounded corners added but no big deal. These are the ones with just angle iron and tie-on cushions

Cheers for the replies, its a discussion my wife are having as we already have 3 boys and the 130 is now full, however 3 is not enough and we will eventual need more seats.

I'd love to have the cash for this bloke conversion,
