The Rhino Rack 42105 Pioneer Platform has an overall length 2728 mm, width of 1465 mm, and has a total weight of 40 kg. Price: $1245
The Hannibal HR02 has an overall length of 2800 mm, width of 1410 mm and has a total weight of 40 kg. Price: unknown
The WindCheetah FRLR4001 has an overall length of 2800 mm, width of 1430 mm, and has a total weight of 35 kg. Price: $1345
Note that total weight includes the legs.

Out of interest, I have attached fitting instructions of the Rhino Pioneer Platform and WindCheetah racks. The Rhino instructions are not only for the Platform but also the Pioneer Tray, and the Windcheetah instructions is for the 1.8 m Expedition Rack but it is basically the same.

If someone tracks down a price for the hannibal and lets me know I can edit Karls post above to include it.
30-40kg doesn't sound much but is pretty heavy for one person when you have to balance on a ladder to put the thing on the roof because the defender is so tall.Quote:

Yep, the Rhino stuff is well made and very versatile.
But the Hannibal gear is awesome - I went from a Hannibal rack to Rhino and have gone back to Hannibal and that's what will be staying on the truck from here on out.
Depends on what you want, but if its a 2m plus basket, I'd say go Hannibal.
I happened to come upon a Rhino Pioneer Tray (similar to the Platform but with sides) on a Pajero in a car park. I had a bit of a look. My feeling was, it wouldn't be as strong as my welded WindCheetah rack (I always worry about plastic bits, and it wasn't just the legs). That is not to say the Rhino was not strong enough for the job it is designed to perform (and it looked good). I don't know what a Hannibal rack looks like up close but I understand they are similar to a WindCheetah being an all welded platform). All three brands have a host of accessories to complement the basic platform (with legs) that they all are. The one accessory that Rhino and Hannibal don’t seem to have is a table that slides under the rack. I have found the table particularly good, and one of the best camping investments I have made. In the end, I don't think you could go wrong with any of them, but do have a good look at the accessories that you may want to add on later. I am not sure what Rhino offers in the way of a ladder but they are a good idea on the back of your vehicle. I have posted the image below before but it shows the ladder on the back of my defender and you can see how neatly the table fits under the rack.

Hannible are a lot of money but they are bloody good racks..the wind cheater is the closest thing I have seen to it but looking at the legs on yours and looking at them on mine I would say hannible looks stronger although both would probably do the job just as good as the other...mine also has removable rails I dont know about yours. mine are not on as we found they were better removed for the roof top tent

I have had a look at the South African Hannibal (global) website (Hannibal - Home). They say that the HR02 rack weighs 45 kg and not 40 kg as the Australian website says. I would be inclined to believe the South African website as that is where the racks are made, not Australia. I have also attached the fitting instructions to be consistent with the earlier instructions I posted.
