New Defender by 2015?
In India it is being reported that the Land Rover Defender brand is getting a major overhaul, with an all new platform to debut by 2015. It is said that more information is emerging about the all-new Defender, which is of significance in India as Tata also plans to launch an assembled-in-India version in the future. Also, the Defenders assembled in India, Land Rover hopes will be suited to the Indian armed forces. Talks about this with the Indian government have been initiated by Land Rover.
It is said that the all new Defender’s all-new platform will also be shared by a host of other Land Rovers, which includes estates and pick-ups. The latest platform is said to be Tata’s most ambitious investment in Land Rover, which has a lot riding for Tata as well as Land Rover. Expect to see the first prototypes of the Defender based on the all new platform sometime in 2013, while mid-2015 is the current time frame given for commercial launch of the all new Defender.
